摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently remove harmful gaseous component which exerts adverse influence on ambient air by the toxicity, malodor, etc. of carbon monoxide, an oxygen-containing compound, a nitrogen-containing compound, an aromatic compound, etc. from air without using harmful substances such as ozone or heating the components to a high temperature. SOLUTION: An electrochemical air cleaning device is provided with a membrane-catalyst electrode connection body in which an anode catalyst electrode layer to which positive voltage is applied; an ion exchange membrane; and a cathode catalyst electrode layer to which negative voltage is applied are provided and laminated in this order. The membrane-catalyst electrode connection body is arranged so that the anode catalyst electrode layer and/or the cathode catalyst electrode layer are in contact with air, and voltage is applied so as to apply the positive electrode to the anode catalyst electrode layer and negative voltage to the cathode catalyst electrode layer. As the catalyst electrode of the anode and the cathode, a substance obtained by dispersing an electron conductive substance such as carbon particulate carrying a catalyst such as platinum, ruthenium into ion-exchange resin is suitable.
