    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a crankcase while facilitating assembly by maximally simplifying a bearing structure of a shaft provided to a gear transmission mechanism in an engine for a vehicle in which the gear transmission mechanism having each main shaft parallel to a crankshaft freely-rotatably and pivotally supported with a divided face, a counter shaft, a shift fork shaft, and a shift drum is built in the crankcase composed by vertically dividably coupling an upper case half-body with a lower case half-body with the divided face. SOLUTION: The engine for a vehicle is composed such that the main shafts 52, 53 and counter shaft 54 are vertically arranged, at least one of the shift fork shaft 100 and the shift drum 104 is freely-rotatably and pivotally supported with the divided face 50 while being arranged at a position of sandwiching a plane PL1 passing through the axial line of the main shafts 52, 53 and counter shaft 54 in-between the crankshaft 28.
