    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To be able to so regulate as not to generate a difference at the positions and scanning lengths of pixels written by a laser beam in a main scanning direction in an image writing apparatus having a plurality of laser output sources for flashing corresponding to a digital image signal at the timing based on a clock signal and simultaneously scanning a plurality of laser beams emitted from the sources. SOLUTION: A laser generator 1 having a plurality of laser output sources is controlled to be driven by an LD driver 11, and flashes corresponding to an image signal output from an image memory 22 based on a clock signal output from a reference oscillator 9. The scanning positions and lengths of the beams are detected by beam detecting means 6, and a correction amount is calculated. A frequency regulator 12 and a phase regulator 13 regulate the period and phase of a reference clock signal based on the result, and writes each pixel based on the clock signal after the regulation.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an output image with high quality and high reproducibility with respect to an input image even in a low density area or a high density area. SOLUTION: An image forming device 10 is configured by interconnecting an original read section 18 and a write device 28 via a conversion section 28. The original read section 18 reads a density of a contract image for each pixel, quantizes the density into 256 gradations and outputs the result to the conversion section 58 as the input density. The conversion section 58 converts the input density into an output density such that the output density is linearly increased with respect to the input density and the output density is a 1st threshold value or over and a 2nd threshold value or below. Furthermore, a difference between the input density and the output density is distributed to vicinity pixels by an error diffusion method. The write device 28 uses a pulse signal with a pulse width in response to the output density to drive a laser beam source, emits a laser beam to a photoreceptor drum 24 to form an electrostatic latent image. The electrostatic latent image is visualized by using toner, transferred onto recording paper, on which the contrast image is formed.
