    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a purification apparatus and a purifying method capable of reducing the content of nitrogen oxide ions in drain.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the diffusion of leaked water even when the leakage is generated from a structure by installing a purification area constituted from a material for purifying the leaked water from a storage site under the ground on the downstream side of the installation position of the storage site. SOLUTION: A purification area 2 is installed under the ground on the downstream side of the installation position of a storage site 1. The area 2 is constituted of a material which has good water permeability and can purify leaked water from the site 1. When water in the site 1 leaks into the surroundings caused by the generation of cracks on the bottom surface and side of the site 1, the water is mixed with underground water flowing under the ground. But it is installed on the downstream side of the flow of underground water. A material constituting the purification area 2 has good water permeability and is constituted from a material selected by the kind of the storage material of the site 1. Accordingly, components contained in the underground water are removed directly during the passage of the underground water through the area 2. Therefore, the underground water after passing through the area 2 flows down as purified underground water not containing various components.
