摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cultivating watercress solving the conventional problem that watercress has not been easily produced because of needing much cost for building and maintaining cultivation facilities. SOLUTION: This method for cultivating watercress comprises the following steps: making a well cultivated a fix-planting bed 1 having a width of about 1 m and a height of about 25 cm in a greenhouse, making an irrigation ditch also used as a path at the both sides of the fix-planting bed 1, spreading rice straw 3 all over the fix-planting bed 1, spreading a cheese cloth 4 which has such a width as to reach at least one part of the width direction of the irrigation ditch also used as a path on the spread rice straw 3 so as to be laid out along the longitudinal direction of the fix-planting bed 1, laying an irrigation pipe on the thus spread rice straw along the central longitudinal direction, planting seedlings of watercress 8 for cutting in planting holes 7 made at the cheese cloth 4, growing the planted watercress 8 while repeating nipping buds, pulling up both sides of the cheese cloth 4 when the leaves and stems growing in colonies begin to hang down on the irrigation ditch also used as a path so that the stems of watercress rise upward, making the watercress further grow followed by nipping side branches to harvest them.
