摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that has a power saving mode by which power consumption is restrained. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a power generating means M which generates power in association with the turn of a document pressing plate 3. In the power saving mode, when the document pressing plate 3 is opened from a closed position 3-1, a circuit for returning to an operation mode is started by power generated by the power generating means M, thereby returning to the operation mode. Further, in the image forming apparatus, when a charge battery for the backup of the memory of operation data is charged by the power generating means M in association with the turn of the document pressing plate 3 and the document pressing plate 3 returns from an opened position 3-3 to the closed position 3-1, the output load on the power generating means M is controlled. Thereby the pressing force of the document pressing plate 3 arising from its own weight is restrained, and the document pressing plate 3 is returned to the closed position while force is being restrained.
