    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a die made from a hard metal having a lubricative amorphous-carbon-based surface film which shows excellent wear resistance in high-speed press forming for a metallic powder.
      SOLUTION: The die comprises: a main body of the die made from a tungsten-carbide-based hard metal or a titanium-carbonitride-based cermet; a bonding layer of a titanium nitride layer and/or a titanium carbonitride layer with an average layer thickness of 0.1 to 3 μm, which is formed on at least a forming face of the main body, in a magnetic field of a magnetron sputtering apparatus; and the lubricative amorphous-carbon-based surface film formed on the surface of a bonding layer, in a reactive atmosphere formed of a decomposed gas of hydrocarbon and a mixed gas of nitrogen and argon, and in a magnetic field, while using a tungsten carbide target and a Ti target. The formed film comprises 10-40 atom% W, 0.5-4 atom% Ti, 10-30 atom% N and the balance carbon with unavoidable impurities; shows a structure in which fine grains of a crystalline titanium-carbonitride-based compound are dispersed in the base material of a carbon-based amorphous body, when observed with a transmission electron microscope; and has an average layer thickness of 1 to 13 μm.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wave absorber having an excellent fire retardancy and an excellent wave absorbing characteristic in a sub-microwave band between 300 MHz and 3 GHz. SOLUTION: The wave absorber contains a soft magnetic metal powder by 60-90 mass% and a mixed resin for the remaining part. If necessary, it may contain graphite by 1-20 mass% and red phosphorus by 0.5-5 mass%. The soft magnetic metal powder has relative proportions of components which consists of Al and/or Si by 15-35% in total, Ni by 0.1-20%, Cr by 1-10%, and Fe and unavoidable impurities for the remaining part, in terms of atomic%. The soft magnetic metal powder consists of particles having a flat profile with the aspect ratio (D 50 /d) adjusted to 2-60 and having an average thickness d of 0.5-3 μm, where D 50 is a grain diameter defined as follows: finding the grain diameter of each particle by a grain size analyzer and accumulating weights of particles from ones having the smallest diameter, the grain diameter is specified as D 50 when the cumulative weight becomes 50% and has a value of 5-30 μm.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Fe-Ni-Mo flaky metal soft magnetic powder, and to provide an Fe-Ni-Mo oxide film-coated flaky metal soft magnetic powder obtained by forming an oxide film on the surface of the powder. SOLUTION: A flaky metal soft magnetic powder having a component composition of, in percent by mass: Ni=60 to 90%; Mo=0.05 to 1.95%; and the balance of Fe and unavoidable impurities, an average particle size of 30 to 150 μm, and a flat surface with an aspect ratio of 5 to 500. Under the condition that the plane including the direction in which X-rays enters and the direction of diffraction is perpendicular to the flat surface of the flaky metal soft magnetic powder, and the angle between the X-ray entrance direction and the flat surface is equal to the angle between the diffraction direction and the flat surface, the X-ray diffraction pattern is measured. The peak intensity ratio I 200 /I 111 is in the range from 0.43 to 10 where I 200 is the peak height of the face index (200) of the X-ray diffraction pattern and I 111 is the peak height of the face index (111) thereof.
