    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a time to opening by making an expansion amount of a skin material 19 itself small until a fragile part 19a is opened by a deployment pressure in an energy absorption device at a side part of a vehicle, provided with an air bag unit 21 at a neighborhood to a side part in a seat covered with the skin material 19, in which the fragile part 19a openable by receiving the deployment pressure of the air bag 24 is provided on the skin material 19. SOLUTION: First and second low expansion members 39a, 39b for suppressing the skin material 19 is expanded before the fragile part 19a is opened by the deployment pressure of the air bag 24 are provided and the opening of the fragile part 19a is closed by sewing the first skin material and the second skin material by a first sewing member. The first low expansion member 39a is fixed by sewing it to the first skin material near the fragile part 19a by the second sewing member and the second low expansion member 39b is fixed by sewing it to the second skin material near the fragile part 19a by a third sewing member.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent a seat surface material having a fragile part from being elongated and deformed largely by an inflating airbag using a low- extension material. SOLUTION: A slit 21a is formed at a seat surface material 32 of the side end part 2L of a seatback 2 and closed by suture. An airbag 13 which expands from an airbag unit U in the side end part 2L inflates to the outside of the seat through the slit 21a. Lower-extension members 51, 52 whose extension is lower than the surface material 32 are disposed between the surface material 32 and the back surface of a cushion member 31. A slit 31c communicating the surface side with the back surface is formed at the cushion member 31 on the inner side than an airbag unit U. A seat reinforcing member 43a is positioned on the rear or back side. The other low-extension member 51 is disposed so that it may pass through the slit 31c. One end of the respective extension members 51 is jointed to the surface material 32 near a fragile part 21, and the other end part is jointed to the reinforcing member 43a.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy absorbing device for vehicle side part formed by providing an airbag unit 21 near a side part inside a seat covered with a surface material 19 and providing the surface material 19 with a weak part 19a to be opened by the inflating pressure of the airbag 24, and to surely open the weak part 19a with the inflating pressure. SOLUTION: An opening part of the weak part 19a is sealed by sewing a first surface material and a second surface material together with a sewing yarn 36, and a first folding part, which is formed by folding a weak part opening side end of the first surface material inside the seat at the sewing part sewn by the sewing yarn 26, is sewn on the first surface material outside the seat in relation to the first folding part in the condition wherein a resin plate 43 is pinched between them. A second folding part, which is formed by folding a weak part opening side end of the second surface material inside the seat at a sewing part sewn by the sewing yarn 36, is sewn on the first surface part outside the seat in relation to the second folding part in the condition wherein a resin plate 43 is pinched between them.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure the thickness of a pad material near an air bag unit to ensure cushioning performance by providing, in a part near the air bag unit within a seat, a guide member for guiding an air bag in a prescribed expanding direction when the air bag is expanded in a specified direction. SOLUTION: An air bag unit 20 is arranged in a housing part 25 formed in a pad material 9 toward a specified direction inclined left about 45 deg. to the front which is a prescribed expanding direction for expanding an air bag 23 so that the thickness of the pad material 9 is not reduced. This device has a deflecting plate 26 for guiding the air bag 23 so as to be expanded forward in the expansion of the air bag, and the deflecting plate 26 is set to a height about 2 times the height of the air bag unit 20, and extended from a seat back frame 8 forward so as to be laid along about the left end of a swollen part 3a, and its rear end is fixed to the seat back frame 8 by spot welding. Thus, cushioning performance can be ensured.
