摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processor that can efficiently decode data coded in compliance with the JPEG into an image with high image quality. SOLUTION: Entropy decoding is applied to the data coded in compliance with the JPEG to obtain a quantized DCT coefficient, which is fed to a prediction tap extract circuit 41 and a cluster tap extract circuit 42. The prediction tap extract circuit 41 and the cluster tap extract circuit 42 extract required data from the DCT coefficient to respectively configure a prediction tap and a cluster tap. A class classification circuit 43 classifies classes on the basis of the class tap and a coefficient table storage section 44 supplies the tap coefficient corresponding to the class obtained from the result of classification to a product-sum arithmetic circuit 45. The product-sum arithmetic circuit 45 uses the tap coefficient and the prediction tap to conduct a linear prediction arithmetic operation and to obtain image data where number of lateral and longitudinal pixels is twice that of an original image.

The predictive image signals of three kinds, for example, provided by this processing are supplied to a predictive value selecting circuit 53. The predictive value selecting circuit 53 selects the maximum and minimum signals out of supplied signals and supplies them to an output value determining circuit 54. An area segmenting circuit 55, on the other hand, extracts a pixel at a prescribed position from the input image signal. Statistic data corresponding to class codes generated by the operation of a feature amount extracting circuit 56 and an adaptive classifying processing circuit 57 based on the extracted pixel are outputted from a statistic data ROM 58. While referring to the statistic data, the output value determining circuit 54 outputs any suitable one of outputs from the predictive value selecting circuit 53.

Then using the tap coefficient of the class of the target pixel and the predicted tap to perform the prescribed prediction arithmetic operation obtains a pixel value of the target pixel. In this case, the predicted tap comprises the two-dimensional DCT coefficient of a target block including the target pixel and a pixel value of a pixel obtained by applying MPEG decoding or the like to the two-dimensional DCT coefficient of other block adjacent to the target block.
