    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material for film formation low in hygroscopicity in spite of containing magnesium oxide and alkaline-earth metal oxide other than magnesium oxide, and capable of manufacturing a film high in a secondary electron emission coefficient by a physical vapor-phase epitaxial method such as an electron beam deposition method or a sputtering method.SOLUTION: This composite alkaline-earth metal oxide contains magnesium oxide and alkaline-earth metal oxide other than magnesium oxide at a ratio in the range of 98:2 to 80:20 as a molar ratio of magnesium to alkaline-earth metal other than magnesium, wherein relative density is in the range of 95.0-99.9%. The composite alkaline-earth metal oxide contains oxide of at least one metal element having a valence of trivalence, tetravalence or pentavalence at an amount in the range of 0.0002-0.1 mol as an amount of the metal element with respect to 1 mol of the alkaline-earth metal.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vapor deposition material capable of manufacturing an oxide film containing strontium and calcium under a stable condition by a physical vapor growth method such as an electron beam vapor deposition method, with low hygroscopicity.
      SOLUTION: The vapor deposition material is a polycrystal formed of crystal particles of an oxide containing strontium and calcium in a ratio of 0.2:0.8-0.8:0.2 range by molar ratio, and contains one kind or more of metal elements selected from a group of silicon, aluminum, titanium, zirconium, and a rare earth element in a quantity in the range of 0.0005-20 mol when the total of molar quantity of strontium and the molar quantity of calcium is made 100 mol, and the average pore diameter is in the range 0.01-0.50 μm.
