    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase control multi-electrode type alternating current discharge lighting device with high energy saving efficiency, long life, and without flicker, which can be mounted to a conventional device. SOLUTION: A plurality of sheet-shaped ring electrodes are arranged into concentric circle shape and closely fixed to the concave surface side of an electrode mounting body formed into hemispheric shape through sheet-shaped insulation bodies, and a hemisphere-shaped front glass, of which inside is coated by phosphor, is mounted to the opposing surface of the electrode mounting body to form a spherical discharge chamber. A magnetized multi-poled sheet- shaped magnet is stuck along the ring electrode, and a cooling means cooling the ring electrode is mounted to the outside of the discharge chamber. A phase control multi-electrode alternating current power source circuit is arranged to the inside of a socket mounted to the discharge chamber.
