In addition, the protective lid 6 rocks between a "closed" position in which the protective lid 6 finds its way into the base cartridge 1 from a cover opening 11 formed above the lower end surface 1a of the base cartridge 1 and is located under the stamping surface 8 of the ascending printing unit 4 and an "open" position in which the protective lid 6 retreats to the outside of the base cartridge 1. A lid opening/closing mechanism rocks the protective lid 6 to the "open" position in accordance with the descent of the sleeve 2 and at the same time, rocks the protective lid 6 to the "closed" position in accordance with the ascent of the sleeve 2. Under the state that a seal is not in use, the face of the seal of the first stamper 1 is protected by a cap 5, which is energized to open with a spring 13 and rockingly openable and closable, and lockingly held by an engaging body 14. The opening 22 of the second charging part 9 is slidingly opened and closed with the shutter 6 so as to allow to extend and retract the second stamper 4 together with the inner case 8 from and into the case 1 therethrough in interlocking with the shutter 6. The shutter 6 and the inner case 8 are interlockingly connected through a rack and pinion mechanism for their interlocking motions.

Printable longitudinal width of the rubber print body 14 is employed by the amount obtained by forming the front and rear walls with the filmy wall 22, resulting in narrowing the longitudinal distance between the printed character rows and allowing to improve the appearance of the character rows to the same order in that of the single type address seal. By pinching the front and rear surfaces of the printing member 13 with projections 23 provided on the front and rear surfaces of the filmy wall 22, the printing tool 13 is prevented from falling out of the pocket 19.

Therefore, there is no need for a projection dimension S of the printing surface 10 to be strictly set. Thus, the seal can be produced at a low cost and perform continuous sealing with an invariant sharpness.

An adjuster 54 of a height adjustment structure for the printing unit 2 is arranged around the lock unit 32. A part of the adjuster 54 is exposed to an outer surface of the cover cylinder 8.
