    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily obtain high purity ruthenium nitrate contg. no halogen at all in a high yield by allowing ruthenium tetroxide to react with nitric acid in the presence of a reducing agent. SOLUTION: Ruthenium tetroxide is allowed to react with nitric acid in the presence of a reducing agent. It is preferable that the reducing agent can reduce octavalent Ru to tri- or tetra-valent Ru, is finally decomposed and does not remain in the reaction system. The reducing agent is, e.g. a lower mono- or poly-hydric alcohol or a lower fatty acid, and methanol, ethylene glycol or oxalic acid is preferably used. The reducing agent is finally removed as CO2 from the reaction system. The pref. amt. of the nitric acid is about 3-30 mol based on 1 mol Ru and an aq. nitric acid soln. having about 3-14N concn. may be used. The reducing agent is added by about 0.1-1 mol based on 1 mol Ru in the case of ethylene glycol. The reaction is efficiently carried out under heating to the room temp.-60 deg.C.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the corrosion-resisting property of a magnet by a method wherein a corrosion protective covering of nA2O.mSiO2 (A indicates one or two or more kinds selected from the group consisting of Li, Na and K, and m/n indicates the range of 2.0-4.0) is provided on the surface of a rare-earth metal-iron permanent magnet. CONSTITUTION:After the alloy of the composition of Nd0.15Fe0.75B0.10 has been fused in an Ar atmosphere, it is coarse-pulverized and then pulverized until an average grain diameter of 3mum or thereabout is obtained. Then, this fine powder is molded by applying the pressure of 1.5t/cm in the magnetic field of 10kOe. The obtained molded body is put in the Ar atmosphere again, it is sintered, and after it has been cooled down to room temperature, a heat treatment is performed at 600 deg.C for abut 1hr. Subsequently, the coating material, consisting of Li2O, Na2O, K2O, SiO2, zinc dust, water, A2O/SiO2 in the specific molar ratio, is painted with a brush on the surface of the permanent magnet obtained as above and it is dried up. through these procedures, oxidization can be prevented even when the material such as rare-earth-iron or rare-earth- iron-cobalt, which is susceptible to oxidization, is used.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic transducer at a low cost which can make the generated ultrasonic pulse short, make high power, and enhance distance resolution of various ultrasonic equipment using an ultrasonic echo method. SOLUTION: The ultrasonic transducer has a piezoelectric board having uniform piezoelectric properties in the direction of the thickness and a board having an acoustic impedance like the piezoelectric board as the main constitution elements. On one side of the piezoelectric board, and external electrode film is formed, and the other side a board having an acoustic impedance like the piezoelectric board is jointed through an internal electrode film. Also, when an ultrasonic pulse emitted to an acoustic medium is indicated by a time base waveform, the thickness of the piezoelectric board is adjusted so that a time difference (τ) between an ultrasonic pulse generated from one side of the piezoelectric board and an ultrasonic pulse generated from the other side has a relation of (1/4)ϕ≤τ≤(3/4)ϕ for one wavelength period (ϕ) of these pulses.
