    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suction roller which can surely convey and guide a web such as extremely thin films or paper requiring delicate handling in the state sucked and held over the entire width direction, in which structure is simple and a group of suction blocks can be easily assembled to a roller body and whose manufacturing cost can be small as the whole. SOLUTION: This suction roller is constituted by embedding and fixing the group of suction blocks 4 on the circumferential face of the roller body 3. The suction block 4 is made of a strip material formed by a ceramic porous body. On the circumferential face of the roller body 3, a group of loading grooves 13 are radially formed in the state opened on the roller side face. By loading the plurality of suction blocks 4 in the loading grooves 13 from the roller side face, the suction block is exposed over the entire width of the roller body 3. By disposing a joint block 5 on both right and left sides of the roller body 3, and vacuum pressure generated by an air supplying device 32 is made to act on the suction block 4 through an exhaust passage 14 so as to suck and convey the web W.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a peripheral surface immersion type gravure coater for positively discharging air bubbles contained in a coating solution within a chamber to eliminate the filling of a cell with the air bubble-containing coating solution and preventing the leak of the coating solution from the contact part of a doctor with a gravure roll to always perform proper coating. SOLUTION: This peripheral surface immersion type gravure coater is equipped with the gravure roll 2, a coating block 3, a coating solution supply device 5 for forcibly supplying the coating solution into the chamber 4 and a coating solution recovery device 6 for recovering the excess coating solution in the chamber 4. The coating solution is supplied to the end part on the side of the doctor 8 in the chamber 4 in a state containing an air layer part 23, and coating is performed in such a state that negative pressure air is allowed to act on the air layer part 23 by a negative pressure device 27. Air bubbles contained in the coating solution are floated to the air layer part 23 to be diffused and discharged through an exhaust passage 25 to effectively remove air bubbles in the coating solution.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating soln. dam-type coating device by which nonuniform coating in the feeding direction of a web due to the variations in the delivery of a coating soln. pump is eliminated. SOLUTION: A web W is fed and guided by a base roller 1. A die head 2 is provided below the periphery of the base roller 1. A coating soln. dam D is furnished at the upper part of the die head 2. A measuring lip 11 is provided on the web outlet side of the dam D. The thickness of the coating film is controlled and the coating film is smoothed by the measuring lip 11. The amt. of the coating soln. in the dam D is maintained in an appropriate range by a liq. level control means. The liq. level control means includes a sensor 23 for detecting the feed rate of the web W, a weight sensor for detecting the amt. of the soln. in the dam D and a controller 27, and the operation of a coating soln. pump 4 is controlled based on the output signals of both sensors 22 and 23 to keep the amt. of the soln. in the dam D in a specified state.

A weighing lip 10 is provided on the web outlet side of the dam D not only to prescribe the thickness of a coating film but also to smooth the coating film. The liquid level of the dam D is held to a predetermined liquid level by a liquid level control means and coating is performed in such a state that, a gaseous phase part is always present above the dam. The liquid control means consists of the level sensor 21 provided in the dam and a control device 22 and controls the operation state of a coating soln. pump 4 to hold the liquid level to a predetermined state.

    • PURPOSE:To eliminate the occurrence of a winding failure caused by the repetition of contact and separation of a roll coming in pressure contact with a rewinding roll or plastic deformation caused by striking the peripheral surface of the roll in a rewinding device for rewinding a web again into roll shape after cutting both ends of the web delivered from a web roll. CONSTITUTION:A web rewinding device has a rewinding roll 8 rotatory-driven by a rewinding shaft 9. An elastic roller 5 is brought into pressure contact with the rewinding roll 8 to wind a web W. The elastic roller 5 has a rubber elastic layer 17 on the peripheral surface of a roller core 16, and the outer peripheral surface is covered with a roller cylinder 18 made of metal. The displacement on the verge of being caused to the elastic roller 5 by the fluctuation of contact pressure between the elastic roller 5 and the rewinding roll 8 is absorbed by the resilience of the elastic layer 17, so that the elastic roller 5 can be always kept in external contact with the rewinding roll 8.

    • PURPOSE:To obviate the necessity of replacing a backup roll or the like even when the web width is varied by making the contact pressure of a web to an applicator roll small and coating uniformly in a manner of forming no cross lines on a film on the web. CONSTITUTION:An applicator roll 8 is provided in a roll coater. A first guide roll 9 is disposed in the web feed direction on the upstream side of the applicator roll 8. A second guide roll 10 is disposed in proximity in the web feed direction on the downstream side of the applicator roll 8. A gravure roll with recesses on the outer peripheral face is used as the applicator roll 8, and rotated reversely in the web feed direction. The second guide roll 10 is a suction roll for suction retaining a web W to which a vacuum pressure is applied, and rotated in the same direction as the web feed direction. The web W is driven and guided in a manner of being brought into contact with the outer peripheral face of the applicator roll 8 by the first and second guide rollers 9 and 10.
