    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a magnesium billet, which is excellent in environmental responsiveness, prevents molten magnesium or magnesium alloy from catching fire during casting, and enables the magnesium billet to be manufactured economically by cutting the initial cost and the running cost.
      SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the magnesium billet 30 comprises a pouring step, a cooling step and an extracting step. In the pouring step, the molten magnesium or magnesium alloy is poured into a bottomed mold 10 having a columnar hollow portion 120 made of carbon material. In the cooling step, the poured molten magnesium or magnesium alloy is cooled so as to be solidified into a columnar shape. In the extracting step, the solidified magnesium or magnesium alloy is extracted from the mold.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for making moisture adhering magnesium alloy waste safe and recovering magnesium alloy waste by melting and refining the magnesium alloy waste made safe.
