摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently disassemble a fuel rod when fuel for a light water nuclear reactor is reprocessed. SOLUTION: A fuel assembly 1 having a fuel rod in which fuel pellets are stored in a zirconium based alloy cladded pipe is sheared by a shearing machine 3 to form short fuel rod sheared pieces 5 to which hydrogen reducing heat treatment is applied in a rotary kiln 7 and then oxidizing heat treatment is applied in a rotary kiln 9. Additionally, a pelletized powder/cleadded pipe separator 11 separates pelletized powder 13 from cladded pipe pieces 15.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a Zr-base alloy material having an appropriate concn. gradient of hydrogen by fixing a hydrogen permeable metal or an alloy based on the metal on the outer surface of a material to be hydrogenated and holding the material in a hydrogen-contg. atmosphere at a high temp. SOLUTION: In a step 2 for forming a thin film, a thin film 5 of a hydrogen permeable metal is formed on a part in which hydrogen is absorbed in the surface of a work 4 made of a Zr-base alloy. The hydrogen permeable metal is, e.g. Ni, Pd, Fe, Co or Pt and the thin film is formed by plating or other method. In a step 3 for absorbing hydrogen, the work 4 is held in a hydrogen- contg. atmosphere in a reaction furnace 6 at a prescribed temp. for a prescribed time. Hydrogen or a hydrogen-inert gas mixture is used as the atmosphere and the concn. of hydrogen is preferably in the range of safe gas or up to pure hydrogen. The temp. of the reaction furnace 6 is preferably 200-500 deg.C and the holding time is preferably about 240 hr.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To collect uranium in the form of nitride by heating a spent fuel with uranium nitride as a main constituent in a nitrogen atmosphere containing N that is at least a specific nitrogen partial pressure at a specific temperature of a specific amount of time and removing the covering of uranium nitride and pulverizing it and at the same time separating and eliminating a volatile unclear reaction product. SOLUTION: A reaction container 2 is provided with a nitrogen gas supply line 4 for supplying a nitrogen gas containing N to a reaction container 2, an inert gas supply line 5 for supplying an inert gas to the reaction container 2, a gas exhaust line 6, and a heating heater 3, and heats a spent fuel 1 in a nitrogen gas atmosphere. In this configuration, the spent fuel that mainly consists of uranium nitride is heated for approximately 10-30 minutes within the range of 600 deg.C-800 deg.C in a nitrogen gas atmosphere containing N where a nitrogen partial pressure is at least 0.01 atmospheric pressure, and then the spent fuel is heated at least for 30 minutes within the range of 800 deg.C-1,450 deg.C in an atmosphere where nitrogen is set to a partial pressure of 1 atmospheric pressure or less, vacuum, or inert gas atmosphere.
