SOLUTION: A new compound of general formula I or IV (wherein, R1 is CH2 , CH2 C(CONHCH2 CH2 OH) (OH)CH2 or CH2 CH2 SSCH2 CH2 ; R2 to R5 are each H, CH3 or CH2 OH; R6 is CH2 or CH2 CH(OH); and R7 to R10 are each H, CH3 or CH2 OH), and a crosslinking agent for a water-absorbing resin using the same and a water-absorbing resin. The crosslinking agent for a water- absorbing resin has no epoxy group and has two or more hydroxy ester units in the structure.

The composition is applicable to various water systems such as cooling water, paper pulp, aqueous coating material, etc. Consequently the objective liquid composition having ready handleability, capable of solving corrosion of facilities due to absence of metal salt is provided.

In a preferred embodiment, the total contents of the components A and B are 0.02-60 wt.% based on the whole composition. The using amount of this composition is preferably 1-10,000 mg/kg when it is used for water based coating materials. This composition is useful for sterilization and preservation of a variety of industrial products such as emulsion adhesive, metal working fluid, latex and the like and is effective for bacteria such as those of the genus Bacillus.

The compound of the formula I can be produced by (A) reacting propargyl alcohol with paraformaldehyde in the presence of hydrogen chloride gas to obtain a compound of the formula II, (B) separately reacting a substituted phenol with an alkali to obtain a substituted phenol alkali salt, (C) reacting the alkali salt with the compound of the formula II and (D) reacting the obtained compound of the formula III with iodine. The compound can be used as an antimicrobial agent as it is or as an active component accounting for 0.1-99wt.% of the agent.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester fiber, improved in adhesion to rubbers and capable of maintaining excellent strength, fatigue performances, etc., by treating the polyester fiber with a treating liquid containing a compound having a specific group and then treating the resultant fiber with a resorcin-formalin-rubber latex(RFL). CONSTITUTION:This method for treating a polyester fiber is to react the polyester fiber with the first treating liquid comprising a compound, prepared by reacting a compound respectively containing one or more hydroxyl groups and one or more ester groups in the molecule, e.g. glycerol polyglycidyl ether or trimethylolpropane polyglycidyl ether which is a compound having at least one hydroxyl group and at least one glycidyl ether group bound thereto in a 2-10C straight-chain or branched aliphatic hydrocarbon compound with a compound having >=2 isocyanate groups in the molecule and then carrying out the decomposition of the residual epoxy groups by addition of a hydrogen halide thereto and having urethane bond, hydroxyl group and a halogen group and subsequently treat the resultant fiber with the second treating liquid containing an RFL. Thereby, problems such as the toxicity of epoxy compounds are eliminated to improve the adhesion to rubbers.
