摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety shield for preventing a risk of being pricked by a tip end of a biopsy needle when operating a biopsy needle assembly.SOLUTION: A safety shield (10) is formed from a one piece body (e.g. of biocompatible plastic), and includes a hollow stem (11) disposed in the lengthwise direction, a tube (12) extending therein, and a disc-shaped collar (13) extending radially outwardly from one end of the hollow stem (11) or around a periphery of the tube (12). The safety shield (10) is mounted in a hub (18) of an implanted needle in friction fit manner and serves as a guide for the insertion of a biopsy needle (27) into the implanted needle, thus preventing a user from being pricked by the tip end of the biopsy needle (27).

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a needle assembly which is equipped with a protective sheath, reduces the danger of pricking with a used needle, and can be maintained in the sealed condition for disposal.
SOLUTION: A syringe, a wire guide, a biopsy needle and a needle 11 such as a Huber needle are drawn into a protective cap 12 and sheath 22 arrangement after use for disposal purpose. The cap 12 is tethered to a housing 13 in which the needle 11 is mounted by the sheath 22. The sheath 22 is made of a film material having a high tensile strength and a low percent of elongation such as a polyester. And, the sheath 22 is initially mounted about the needle 11 in a collapsed accordion-like condition between the cap 12 and the housing 13. By this, when the cap 12 is moved along the needle 11, the sheath 22 can be pulled out covering the needle 11. Also, the cap 12 houses a spring clip 26 to snap over a bore 33 through which the needle 11 is retracted to prevent re-emergence of the needle 11.
