    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary orbital sander including a motor having a rotary shaft with radially off-set portion. SOLUTION: A suction housing 22 is mounted to the motor 16 arround a motor shaft and connectable with a vacuum source. A sanding pad assembly 26 including a backing pad 48 having a plurality of apertures there through and an annular frame 34 having a circumferential side wall 36 including first and second circumferential edges is mounted to the radially off-set portion of the shaft. A circular back wall 42 extends from one of the circumferential edges 40, and has an opening 44 sealable with the suction housing. The other circumferential edge 38 is attached to the backing pad. This sanding pad assembly resists flapping at high rotational speeds. A sanding disk 52 having a size and a shape complimentary to that of the sanding pad and a plurality of holes 54 aligning with the apertures 50 in the sanding pad is mountable on the sanding pad. The vacuum source draws sanding waste through the aligned apertures and out the suction housing.

    • PURPOSE: To easily mount/demount even a thick polishing sheet on/from this support pad by installing it in a central part of the support pad in which a central fastening element is sealed in and fitted to a central hole of the polishing sheet. CONSTITUTION: A support pad 10 is connected to an end part of a motor shaft 14 by a journal 12, and is rotated by driving of this motor shaft 14. A journal 32 being an extending part of the journal 12 to support this support pad 10, slightly projects from a contact surface 34 of the support pad 10, and is fitted to a central hole 36 of a polishing sheet 30. In this case, since this hole 36 is formed as the almost same dimension as the journal 32, a fairly thick and hard polishing sheet 30 is supported in the center of the support pad 10 by the journal 32. In this case, since the polishing sheet 30 has an adhesive layer 38 on a surface turning to the support pad 10, the polishing sheet 30 is separably adhered to an outside surface of the support pad 10, and torque of the support pad 10 is transmitted to the polishing sheet 30 by contact friction of this adhesive layer 38.

    • PURPOSE: To correct imbalance, and avoid damage to parts by vibration caused by this imbalance by symmetrically positioning the center of gravity of two equal adjustable correcting members arranged in a balance weight to the symmetrical axis connecting the axis of a shaft and the axis of an eccentric receiving plate. CONSTITUTION: A central screw hole 2 to install a shaft part having an outside screw of a motor shaft is arranged on one end of the shaft. An eccentric recessed part to receive a bearing to bear a receiving plate 7 is formed on the other end of this shaft. A large diameter eccentric part 21 is arranged in this receiving plate 7 side end part, and this eccentric part 21 is positioned on the opposite side of the rotary axis 6 of the receiving plate 7 with the axis 5 of the shaft as the center. The center of gravity of at least the two same adjusting rings 31 and 32 arranged in the vicinity of the eccentric part 21 of the shaft, is symmetrically positioned to the symmetrical axis 23 connecting these axes 5 and 6. Imbalance is accurately corrected by chaging radial directional force over a wide range by adjusting an angle formed by the center of gravity of these adjusting rings 31 and 32 and the symmetrical axis 23.
