    • PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain the title material which, even when it is used in a relatively lower effective concentration, can exhibit its excellent antifouling action for a long time without polluting marine environments and is capable of being controlled in its antifouling power by incorporating monovalent Ag-containing water-soluble glass particles in a coating material. CONSTITUTION:This antifouling resin coating material is prepared by mixing a synthetic resin coating material with a powder obtained by adding 0.1-20 pts.wt. (in terms of Ag2O) monovalent Ag to 100 pts.wt. water-soluble glass (e.g., a mixture of 40.0mol% SiO2, 50.0mol% B2O3 and 10.0wt.% Na2O), melting the resulting mixture by heating and quenching the melt. This material is used to prevent vessels, marine and submarine structures, apparatuses related to cooling water of a thermal power plant, fishnets, etc., from being fouled by the deposition of marine animals and plants.

    • PURPOSE:To preserve a medicated bath by preventing the generation of a putrid smell and slime by the sterilizing and bactericidal action of an eluted Ag ion by immersing water-soluble glass containing monovalent Ag in its composition in the medicated bath as a water treatment agent. CONSTITUTION:A water treatment agent composed of water-soluble glass containing monovalent Ag in its composition is immersed in a medicated bath (e.g. hot bath water having a natural herb, a herb for a herb medicine, citrus fruits and a synthetic bathing agent dissolved therein) and an Ag ion is eluted from said glass to treat and preserve the medicated bath. The water-soluble glass is prepared by containing, for example, Ag2O in a composition containing mesh forming oxide composed of one or more kind of SiO2, B2O3 and P2O5, mesh modifying oxide composed of one or more kind of Na2O, K2O or CaO and intermediate oxide such as Al2O3 or TiO2 as monovalent Ag. A pref. composition consists of SiO2 15-80, B2O3 30-70, Na2O 7-20 and Ag2O 0.1-2.5 on a basis of pts.wt. In use, said composition is immersed as it is or wrapped in water permeable cloth.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the malodor caused by the decomposition due to the reproduction of microbes by eluting silver ions into a water-soluble oil solution from a woven fabric or a nonwoven fabric containing soluble silver ion-containing glass. CONSTITUTION:This floor mat is made of a porous sheet containing granular or fiber-like silver ion-containing galss. The content of the silver ions must be 0.1wt.% or above as converted into Ag2O for showing an antibacterial action, and 5 wt.& is sufficient. The average particle diameter is set to 500mum or below, normally to 5mum or above in view of the adjusting work of the particle diameter. In the case of fibers, the average fiber diameter is set to 100mum or below for the antibacterial performance, normally to 0.5mum or above in view of the fiber spinning work efficiency. The porosity of the porous sheet is set to the range of 390-vol.%, and the thickness is normally set to the range of 0.3-5mm. When the thickness is thinner than 0.3mm, the antibacterial performance is inferior, and the antibacterial performance is not improved even if the thickness is made thicker than 5mm. The sliver ion-containing glass is stuck on the surface of a woven fabric with an organic or inorganic binder.
