      SOLUTION: This automatic intake and exhaust valve is provided with an outlet valve part 3 comprising an exhaust cylinder 5 and an intake cylinder 24 vertically provided above a valve box 1 to be communicated with it, an outlet valve element 8 disposed from the underside to open/close an outlet valve port 6 in accordance with the vertical position of a float 15 in the valve box 1, and an outlet valve spring 12 to energize the outlet valve element 8 in a closing direction, and an intake valve part 4 comprising an intake valve element 27 disposed from the underside to open/close an intake valve port 25, and an intake valve spring 30 to energize the intake valve element 27 in a closing direction. The volume V in the intake valve part 4 sealed with the intake valve element 27 is set in such a way that an air layer is formed under the intake valve element 27 even when air in the intake valve part 4 is compressed as pressure is added. Thereby, the air layer constantly isolates the intake valve element from a water surface, so that foreign matter flowing on the water surface is not attached to the intake valve element. On the outlet valve part 3, a forced valve opening/closing operation means 20 is provided to open/close the outlet valve element 8. By providing the valve with the means 20, foreign matter attached to the outlet valve element 8 and the part around it can be discharged together with drain water.

A valve stem 26 is movably provided to approach and go away from a back part facing the secondary side through the valve hole of the valve element. In a relief valve of such constitution, a valve rod of the valve element is protrusively provided on the primary side, and a valve rod guide insert-supporting the valve rod so as to be slidable is provided inside the primary side passage, and the back part of the valve element is provided with a protruding part opposedly to the valve stem 26. The valve rod and valve rod guide are therefore always submerged in a primary side fluid so as to operate the valve element normally without generating contamination.
