摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glow ignition engine properly driven even by inexpensive low octane value fuel.SOLUTION: The glow ignition engine 1 includes a cylinder 2, a piston 3, a glow plug 4 and an adapter 5. A combustion chamber 6 is formed of the cylinder 2 and the piston 3. Gasoline is supplied in the combustion chamber 6. The piston 3 is slidingly arranged in the cylinder 2. The glow plug 4 has a filament for igniting the gasoline, and is fixed to the cylinder 2 via the adapter 5. The glow plug 4 and the adapter 5 are formed in a cylindrical shape of covering the periphery of the filament projecting in the combustion chamber 6, and are inclined in the sliding direction of the piston 3. The glow plug 4 and the adapter 5 are formed with a cutout part in an edge part on the piston 3 side so as not to interfere with the piston 3 when existing in the top dead center.

The adaptor 5 has an inner diameter slightly larger than an outer diameter of the booster for energizing the glow plug 4, and is fixed to the cylinder 2. The booster is lead to the electrode of the glow plug 4 along the depth of a groove of the adaptor 5.
