SOLUTION: This butterfly valve is provided with a valve shaft 23 arranged in the fluid passage 2 inside a housing 21 and fitted with a valve disk 25, the valve shaft 23 is turnably supported by both bushes 28, 29, the valve disk 25 is provided with cutout parts 26, 26 corresponding to the bushes 28, 29, and the valve shaft 23 is provided with flange parts 24, 24 in the positions corresponding to the cutout parts 26. The valve disk 25 is positioned and fixed to the valve shaft 23 by fitting the flange parts 24, 24 to the cutout parts 26, 26, and the dimension between the outer end surfaces of both the flange parts 24, 24 is set within the inside diameter of the fluid passage 2 of the housing 21, and the flange parts 24, 24 are arranged in the inside positions out of the shaft holes 21a, 21b.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide good operational responsiveness in the event of sudden braking and provide sufficient outputs.
      SOLUTION: Silicone oil 33 is sealed in the recessed part 27a of an output shaft 27 by means of a reaction disc 28. Thus in the event of sudden braking whereby a brake pedal is operated abruptly, the part 28b of the shank of the reaction disc 28 can easily expand more to its front than to its outer peripheral part. Therefore, the amount of opening of an atmospheric pressure valve can be increased and sufficient outputs can be obtained.

      SOLUTION: An annular groove 5a is formed in a position near to the outer peripheral part 5A of a power piston 5. An annular protrusion 6a is formed on a diaphragm 6 and the annular protrusion 6a is engaged with the annular groove 5a. Even when, during operation of a brake boosting device 1, the diaphragm 6 is radially externally pulled, no tensile force is exerted on the thin section of the diaphragm 6 positioned further radially internally than the annular protrusion 6a.

SOLUTION: When an accumulated pressure in an emergency accumulator 9 reaches a predetermined value, a second ball valve 112 opens. Hydraulic fluid in a compartment 101 is throttled by a throttle 81, and discharged to the reservoir at a low flow rate. Accordingly, upward movement of a shoulder piston 70 becomes slower. This makes it difficult for the upper end of the shoulder piston 70 to contact a housing 93 contact less, and thereby generation of contact noises is suppressed. Even if the shoulder piston 70 contacts the housing 93, it does slowly. Therefore, contact noises are barely generated. Since the shoulder piston 70 and the housing 93 contact via an elastic member 80, generation of contact noises can be prevented reliably. Also, when a valve part 98 is mounted onto a valve seat 97, since the valve seat 97 is formed by anelastic member, contact noises are not generated, either.

An annular elastic member 90 is fittingly mounted to a part of the ball receiver 77 and the ball receiver 77 is movably held in the valve hole 70a by the elastic member 90. A spring chamber 81 provided with a compression coil spring is formed at one end side of the valve hole 70a, and the spring chamber 81 is connected to the tank side through a throttle passage 92.
