    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiplex broadcast receiver and a multiplex broadcast receiving method by which following operations and reception of traffic information are compatible with each other by using two tuners.
      SOLUTION: The multiplex broadcast receiver 1 is provided with a main tuner 4 for receiving program broadcast which is multiplexed on a multiplex broadcast wave, a sub tuner 5 for receiving road traffic information (data of group 8A) which is multiplexed on the multiplex broadcast wave and is send at predetermined intervals and a controller 9 which checks the reception state of alternative frequencies of the same program broadcast received by the main tuner 4 while the sub tuner 5 does not receive the road traffic information and makes the main tuner 4 follow the alternative frequency whose reception state is favorable. The controller 9 also changes the period of following operations in response to the transmission gap among the road traffic information. Further, the controller 9 makes the sub tuner 5 repeat the reception of the road traffic information and following operations at predetermined intervals when the sub tuner 5 cannot receive the road traffic information for a predetermined period of time.
