    • PURPOSE:To form an optical waveguide with a less joint loss to an optical fiber by pattern-exposing and sensitizing a photosensitive resin so as to form a curing agent which has a rectangular sectional shape and becomes the core of the core layer of the optical waveguide, coating a homogeneous photosensitive resin and executing exposing and sensitizing steps with respect to all sides. CONSTITUTION:A transparent film 7 is put on a glass substrate 6, and thereon a spacer 8 is placed and filled with the photosensitive resin 9, on which a transparent film 10 is put as a cover to interrupt air. On the film 10 a mask 11 is placed in a desired shape, and the pattern exposure is executed by an incident light beam 12. No-exposed part is removed by etching. The sectional shape of the curing agent 5 for becoming the core of the core layer obtained in such a way is rectangular. The homogeneous photosensitive resin is dropped and coated on a side surface 5a in the axial direction of the curing agent 5, exposed in this state and cured, thereby obtaining the peripheral part 13 of the core layer. Said steps are applied to other three sides 5b, 5c and 5d to form the peripheral parts 14, 15 and 16 of the core layer.

    • PURPOSE:To make possible the formation of the edge part of an optical molding to a round shape by using a photosetting resin compsn. contg. a non-reactive thermplastic polymer which is inert with the active light irradiated through a photomask. CONSTITUTION:The compsn. contg. the thermoplastic resin component which does not have reactivity with the active light is used as a photosensitive resin layer and the optical molding obtd. after exposing and developing is subjected to a heat treatment at the temp. above the glass transition temp. of the optical molding in a process for producing the optical molding which forms the optical molding having a desired shape by superposing the photomask on the photosensitive resin, irradiating the active light on said layer from above the photomask and subjecting the resin layer to a developing process after exposing. The photosetting resin compsn. is constituted of a crosslinkable monomer, prepolymer and photopolymn. initiator in addition to the above-mentioned non-reactive thermoplastic polymer inert with the active light. The resultant molding is subjected to the heat treatment at the temp. above the glass transition temp. of the optical molding, by which the optical molding having the round edge part is formed.

    • PURPOSE: To make it possible to produce a number of micro lenses at one time easily with good reproducibility that have a desired refractive index distribution, by controlling in a two-dimensional plane the amount of a ultraviolet ray falling onto a sheetlike base containing a photopolymerizable material and a photopolymerization initiator.
      CONSTITUTION: A photo-mask 4 having a circular opening section 3 wherein the ultraviolet transmission is decreased from the center thereof toward the periphery is placed on a transparent sheetlike base 2 containing a photopolymerizable material 1 whose refractive index after the polymerization is different from the base and a photopolymerization initiator 1'. When a uniform ultraviolet light ray 5 is struck on the sheetlike base 2 through the photo-mask 4, the photopolymerizable material 1 changes in the degree of the polymerization in proportion to the transmitted amount of the ultraviolet light ray 5. After the ultraviolet light ray 5 is struck on for a prescribed period, the photopolymerizable material 1 that has not been polymerized is removed, so that a lens 6 whose refractive index distribution is in proportion to the transmission distrubution of the photo- mask 4 is formed in the sheetlike base 2.
