    • PURPOSE:To produce a grain-oriented magnetic steel sheet excellent in magnetic proper ties and surface characteristics by carrying out continuous squeezing and slab heating under respectively specified conditions before the solidification of a cast slab drawn out from a mold is completed in the continuous casting process for a silicon-containing steel slab. CONSTITUTION:A silicon-containing steel slab is prepared by a continuous casting method and subjected to slab heating and then to a series of stages consisting of hot rolling, cold rolling, decarburizing and primary recrystallization annealing, and final finish annealing, by which a grain-oriented magnetic steel sheet is produced. In the above continuous casting process, a cast slab drawn out from a mold is subjected to continuous squeezing satisfying an inequality delta/d>=0.5 [(delta) means total rolling reduc tion (mm) by squeezing and (d) means unsolidified thickness (mm) at a squeezing position, where 100% solid-phase rate is regarded as solidification boundary] at the position where solid-phase rate (fs) in the central part of the cast slab comes to 0.5-0.9 in the stage before solidification is completed in the inner part of the cast slab, and further, slab heating is carried out at a low temp. region of 1280-1350 deg.C.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce nozzle clogging and to obtain a cast slab having good inner quality by measuring nozzle opening degree for controlling discharging flow rate of molten steel, gas flow rate for blowing into a submerged nozzle part amt. of casting and molten steel level in a tundish, respectively and processing the nozzle clogging rate. CONSTITUTION:In an operating processor 20, a molten steel level signal (h) in the tundish 1 from a molten steel level meter 8, an inert gas flow rate signal Q for blowing into the submerged nozzle 4 from a flow meter 9, an opening degree signal S of the nozzle 3 for controlling discharging flow rate from a displacement gage 12 and a drawing velocity of a pinch roll 17, that is, casting velocity VR from a casting velocity meter 19, are inputted, respectively. The nozzle clogging rate is processing according to the prescribed equation and the opening degree of the nozzle 3 for controlling the discharging flow rate fitting the submerged nozzle through a servo valve 13 is controlled to control the molten steel discharging flow rate. By this method, the nozzle clogging rate in the discharging hole part of the submerged nozzle is shown as the opening hole area ratio in the discharging hole part, and the gas blowing rate into the submerged nozzle and molten metal surface surface control system in the mold are controlled according to this value.

    • PURPOSE:To remarkably reduce tensile strain at solidified interface and to improve the productivity by denting a part of upper side face in a cast bloom to form the dented part at the time of continuously casting the bloom, etc., by straightening to horizontal shape after drawing the cast bloom vertically cast from a mold. CONSTITUTION:Molten steel from a tundish is poured into the mold 1 (1a, 1b) and cast to vertical state. The cast bloom 5 is drawn from the mold 1 and curved as arc state at curving part 2 and shifted to horizontal straightening part 3 through a straightening point Q. The cast bloom is prescribed with upper and lower pinch rolls 4 in the horizontal straightening part 3 to straighten to the horizontal shape, and after completing solidification of the molten steel at solidified completing point P, the cast bloom is cut with torch cutter, etc., at outer side of the horizontal straightening part 3. Before the cast bloom 5 reaches to the straightening point Q, a part of the upper side face 5a in the cast bloom 5 is dented to form the dented part 6. By this method, at the time of straightening the cast bloom at the horizontal straightening part 3, the tensile strain at the solidified interface in the upper side face of the cast bloom 5 is reduced and even if the casting speed is raised, the continuous casting can be executed. Further, the internal cracking is not developed and the productivity can be improv.

    • PURPOSE:To restrain uneven temp. on cross sectional plane of solidified shell at initial stage in a mold and to improve stability of casting by arranging static magnetic field generator, so that magnetic flux is penetrated to the right angle to the drawing direction of a cast billet at both sides of the mold just below a feed nozzle. CONSTITUTION:By using the mold attached to the static magnetic field generator 28, continuous casting of the billet is executed under the prescribed condition. The static magnetic field generator 28 uses an electromagnet having the prescribed iron core cross section and this is arranged so that the magnetic flux is penetrated just below discharging holes of the feed nozzle 6. Intensity of the static magnetic field is set so that the max. magnetic flux density at center part of the mold 8 comes to the prescribed gauss and twin directional drawing type horizontal continuous casting is executed. By this method, the cast billet can be stably produced without any trouble, such as breakout, at the prescribed casting speed. Further, by adding an electromagnetic stirring device to generate rotating flow to the molten steel stream, the cast billet having further good surface characteristic without double skin and cold shut mark, is obtd. By this method, stability of the casting is improved and the productivity of the cast billet is improved.
