    • PURPOSE:To easily decrease the amt. of the carbon contained in and sticking to powder ore after reduction to a specified value or below by fluidizing and reducing the powder ore in a reducing furnace by introducing a reducing gas added with gas substantially consisting of CO2 or H2O into the furnace. CONSTITUTION:The raw material powder ore is supplied via a screw feeder 3 for supplying raw material to the reducing furnace 1 having a gas distributor 2 in the lower part. The high-temp. reducing gas contg. Co, H2, etc., is then introduced from a device 4 for supplying the high-temp. reducing gas into the furnace from the furnace bottom. The raw material on the above-mentioned gas distributor 2 is thereby fluidized and reduced. The reduced ore obtd. in such a manner is taken out of a reduce ore discharge port 6 and the waste gas is discharged through a cyclone 7 at the furnace top. The gas substantially consisting of CO2 and/or H2O is added to the above- mentioned reducing gas from a nozzle 10 to decrease the amt. of the C contained in and sticking to the reduced ore in the above-mentioned method for reducing the fluid layer. The CO2/CO ratio in the reducing gas after the above-mentioned addition is adequately maintained within the specified range according to the reaction temp. and the permissible amt. of the C contained in and sticking to the reduced ore.
