    • PURPOSE: To suppress the play of a journal box in the horizontal direction and to enable stable rolling operation by providing a cylinder for pressing the side face of the journal box of work roll and a cylinder for pressing a projecting part at the level of the axial center of work roll. CONSTITUTION: The 1st cylinder 18 for pressing the journal box 10 of work roll and the 2nd cylinder 19 for pressing the projecting part 14 are horizontally provided at the level of the axial center of a work roll 2 on a supporting member 15 integrated with the journal box of an intermediate roll 11 provided between the projecting part 14 of a housing 13 and the journal box 10 of work roll. When the rods of the 1st cylinder 18 and 2nd cylinder are extended, the play between the journal box 10 of work roll and a supporting member 15 and play between the supporting member 15 and the projecting part 14 are suppressed and the movements in the horizontal direction of the journal box 10 of work roll and journal box 11 of intermediate roll are restrained. In this way, the position of the work roll 2 is stabilized, unbalanced load to the journal box 10 of work roll is prevented and stable rolling operation is executed.

    • PURPOSE:To control the shape of work rolls with good accuracy by supporting the work rolls to a pyramid shape with two pieces of intermediate rolls backed up by back up rolls and shifting and bending the intermediate rolls. CONSTITUTION:The upper intermediate rolls 2, 3 are provided on the lower side of the large-diameter upper back up roll 1 and the small-diameter work rolls 4 are attracted and supported in the pyramid shape by means of springs 5 to the lower side thereof. The upper divided back up rolls 7, 8 are provided on the upper and down stream sides of the rolls 2, 3. Double push horizontal benders 9, 10 are provided to the rolls 7, 8. The lower side is constituted in the same manner. Vertical bending cylinders are provided to the rolls 2, 3 to control the vertical bending and shifters are provided thereto to shift the rolls 2, 3 in opposite directions. The fluctuation in the horizontal deflection of the small-diameter work rolls 4, 4' is prevented by the above-mentioned mechanism and therefore, the diameter of the rolls 4, 4' is made extremely small.

    • PURPOSE:To provide high transverse rigidity and high shape controllability to a titled mill by pushing small-diameter work rolls at both ends by divided backup rolls having positioning and bending means via support rolls thereby supporting the work rolls. CONSTITUTION:Upper intermediate rolls 2 are provided right under the large- diameter upper backup rolls 1 and small-diameter chockless upper work rolls 3 are attracted and supported to the lower side thereof by springs 4. The upper divided backup rolls 8, 9 are provided via the upper support rolls 6, 7 to the upper and down stream sides of the pass line 5 of the rolls 2. A horizontal bending jack 10 is provided to one of the rolls 8, 9 and a horizontal bending cylinder 11 is provided to the other. The backup rolls are thus pushed at both ends and are positioned by horizontal bending. The rolls in the lower stage are similarly constituted. Vertical bending cylinders 22, 23 are provided to the upper and lower intermediate rolls 2, 13 to make bending control. The rolls 2, 13 are simultaneously shifted in the opposite directions by providing shifting devices.
