The discharge ports having different calibers are combined and the discharge ports having a caliber smaller than that of the discharge ports provided to the central part of the head are provided to the end parts of the head.     • PURPOSE:To satisfy basic requirements such as stable electrostatic charge imparting ability, compatibility with a polymer resin and hydrophobic property and to make the degree of coloring as low as possible by incorporating a specified amt. of a specified compd. as an electrostatic charge controlling agent. CONSTITUTION:This electrophotographic toner contains 0.1-25wt.% compd. represented by the formula and quaternized by bonding only one of two N atoms of a dipyridyl group to an org. group or an H atom. In the formula, R is 1-26C alkyl or aralkyl as an org. group and X is a counter ion. Since the org. pyridinium salt has generally higher hydrophobic property and compatibility with a resin than a corresponding pyridinium salt and a pyridinium salt dimer, the counter ion is selected among various ions. Since the compd. as an electrostatic charge controlling agent is practically colorless unless a colored counter ion is used, the compd. is also suitable for use in the production of a color toner in combination with a pigment.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a toner having the extent of electrostatic charge almost independent of temp. and humidity by incorporating at least one kind of specified compd. as an electrostatic charge controlling agent. CONSTITUTION:This electrophotographic toner contains at least one kind of compd. represented by a formula ROR' (where R is 1-20C alkyl, unsubstd. phenyl, benzyl, unsubstd. naphthyl or naphthyl having one or more substituents and R' is methyl, benzenesulfone, o-, m- or p-toluenesulfonyl, alpha- or- naphthalenesulfone). An arom. ring such as phenyl or benzyl is more advantageous as R than alkyl from the viewpoint of anti-offsetting. This reason is considered that the introduction of the arom. ring gives a higher m.p. A resin kneaded with the compd. as an electrostatic charge controlling agent is polystyrene, a styrene-acrylic copolymer, etc. Carbon black is added as a colorant in the case of a black toner. In the case of a color toner, a colorant corresponding to the color is added.
