    • PURPOSE:To effectively prevent an upheaval accumulation phenomenon of ink generated under the uniformization effect of an electrostatic field in a high-speed printing cycle, and make the upheaval of ink uniform in an optimum state by reducing the electrostatic field stepwise following the progress of a continuous printing cycle. CONSTITUTION:When a switching element 24 is turned ON/OFF in accordance with a signal which complies with image information, a heat signal A is applied to ink 3 from a corresponding thermal resistor 21. At the same time, an electrostatic signal S which forms an electrostatic field is applied to the ink 3, synchronously with the heat signal A. At that time, a voltage value of a variable high voltage supply 33 is reduced by 10V per printing cycle of 100 lines by means of an electrostatic control means 7. Therefore, the electromagnetic signal S is reduced stepwise per printing cycle of 100 lines, and then is applied to the ink 3. For this reason, when the electrostatic signal S is uniform, the attractive force brought to bear on an ink column 3a in an upheaval direction becomes weak by the stepwise reduction value of intensity of the electrostatic signal S. Subsequently, the upheaval of the rising ink column 3a is maintained almost at a constant level.

    • PURPOSE:To accelerate the return speed of an ink column when the rising ink column returns to a recording sheet side based on the synergic action of a heat signal and an electrostatic field in accordance with image information by applying a prearranged auxiliary heat signal to each ink part at an intermediate point of time of each application timing for a heat signal in compliance with image information. CONSTITUTION:An ink jet recording device is composed of a main body of ink jet head 1, a means 4 to apply a heat signal to ink 3 stored in an ink ejection part 2a of a slit-like ink chamber 2 by unit of pixel density, a means 5 to apply an auxiliary heat signal to ink 3 in the ink discharge part 2a by unit of pixel density at an intermediate point of time of each application timing for a heat signal of a heat signal application means 4, and a means 6 to allow formation of a prearranged electrostatic field between the surface of ink 3 and recording sheet 7, synchronously with an application timing for the heat signal of the heat signal application means 4. The heat signal application means 4 and the auxiliary heat signal application means 5 are composed of a heat generating element array adjusted to pixel density and a control circuit 30 which thermally drives the array by subdividing it into four blocks and also thermally drives said array at auxiliary heating timing.

    • PURPOSE:To enable a high-speed recording action, by a method wherein a recessed part is formed on an opposed surface of at least one insulating substrate, and in a slit-form space a gap of an ink holding part connecting to an ink discharge part is made larger in dimension than a gap on the side of the ink discharge part. CONSTITUTION:When a drive pulse according to image information is applied to a heating resistor 13 of a thermal energy applying means 4, an ink 3 is subjected to a thermal energy to be heated. Then, viscosity and surface tension are reduced and conductivity is enhanced. On the other hand, with the application of an electrostatic control pulse to an electrostatic inducing electrode 19, an electrostatic field is formed between the electrode 19 and the surface of the ink 3, whereby the heated ink 3 jets towards a recording sheet 5 to form an ink dot. At this time, a recessed part 9 is formed on an upper insulating substrate 7, and a gap of an ink holding part 12 connecting to an ink discharge part 11 is made larger in dimension than an gap on the side of the ink discharge part 11. In this manner, the resistance in a flow path can be reduced. Thus, the ink 3 is stably supplied, and recording action can be speeded up.

CONSTITUTION:When a drive pulse according to image information is applied to a heating resistor 15 of a thermal energy applying means 4, an ink 3 is subjected to a thermal energy to be heated. Then, viscosity and surface tension are reduced and conductivity is enhanced. • PURPOSE:To enable high-density recording and halftone recording according to density information on image information by providing a means which varies and controls either or both of the value of a voltage applied to a control electrode and the application time of the voltage according to the density information on the image information. CONSTITUTION:The amount of toner in reciprocal motion depends upon the supply amount of toner on a toner carrier 1, so it is difficult to control picture elements at every picture element and it does not suit to image density control, but when flying speed can be controlled by the intensity of an electric field operating between the control electrode 9 and a toner carrier 1, i.e. the level of the voltage applied to the control electrode 9, the time of the reciprocal motion can be controlled by the pulse width of the pulse voltage applied to the control electrode 9, so image density is controllable by controlling the level and pulse width of the pulse voltage applied to the control electrode 9. The density of printing dots can be controlled according to the density information on the image information by controlling either or both of the voltage value and the application time of the voltage applied to the control electrode 9. Consequently, high-density recording and halftone recording are both enabled.

    • PURPOSE:To keep the image quality of a recording image well at a low energy level, by providing heat generating parts arranged corresponding to a picture element density on a heat signal applying means and bringing the dimension of each heat generating part extending along in the direction crossing the arrangement direction of the heat generating parts at a right angle to specific relation with respect to the center-to-center distance of the heat generating parts. CONSTITUTION:For example, the distance alpha between the end part of each of heat generating resistors 21 and the end part of a head main body 1 is set to 50mum, the center-to-center distance lambda of the heat generating resistors 21 is set to 125mum and the width dimension deltaof each heat generating resistor 21 is set to 80mum and, further, the dimension l of each heat generating resistor 21 extending along in the direction crossing the arrangement direction of the heat generating resistors 21 at a right angle is appropriately set within 2lambda. The contrast of the surface temp. distribution of ink 3 along the longitudinal direction of a slit opening part 2a becomes large as the dimension l becomes small and position shift between an ink heating region and an ink flight region is scarcely eliminated and a high quality recording image is obtained. When the dimension l becomes equal to 2lambda, positional shift begins to generate slightly. Further, as the dimension l becomes small, the application quantity of energy can be suppressed to a small amount.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce supply energy to ink and to shorten a recording operation time, by applying a heat signal to the ink and further applying an electrostatic signal to the ink in such a stage that the ink reaches a critical flight state and simultaneously finishing both applying operations. CONSTITUTION:When an image information signal G is inputted to a control means 7, the control means 7 allows each switching element 23 of a heat signal applying means 4 to take ON-operation only for a time T1. A heat generating resistor 21 generates heat and a heat signal M is applied to an ink unit area A. After the elapse of a predetermined time T3, the corresponding ink unit area A reaches a critical flight state. At this point of time, the control means 7 allows the switching element 33 of an electrostatic field forming means 6 to take ON-operation only for a time T2 and an electrostatic signal N is applied to the entire surface area of ink to immediately form a predetermined electrostatic field S. The ink unit area A begins to fly by attraction force based on the electrostatic field S and the leading end part of a protruded ink column 3a is contacted with a recording sheet 5 to be transferred to said sheet 5 to form an ink dot D. In such a stage that the flight operation of the ink 3 is finished, the operations for applying the heat signal M and the electrostatic signal N are finished.
