    • PURPOSE:To unify load of the line driver circuits on the sides X and Y to reduce the total circuit number by a method wherein the double number 2m of fewer electrodes of a display panel, either X-electrodes or Y-electrodes, areled out while n/2 pieces of electrodes on the other hand are led out jointly by two pieces. CONSTITUTION:In a display panel on a plate made of an asymmetrical matrix, a smaller number of lines are formed on the side of Y-electrodes compared with the side of X-electrodes. The new electrodes Y'4 and Y'5 are prepared as against the illustrated electrodes Y4 and Y5 while the X-electrode patterns 5 and 6 are prepared in order to make up for a position gap of grid points of matrix dots by the electrodes Y'4 and Y'5. In this way, when the number of Y-electrodes are (m) pieces, the double number 2m of Y-electrodes of this panel are led out while, when the number of X-electrodes are (n) pieces, n/2 pieces are led out. Thereby, the line driver circuit load on the sides X and Y are unified thus reducing the total number of the driver circuits.

    • PURPOSE:To easily obtain a gas discharge panel of high quality display by patterning a glass layer printed as a spacer during a photo-resist process using an electrode pattern as a photo mask so as to form the spacer corresponding to an electrode gap. CONSTITUTION:A crystalline glass layer 14 for a spacer with a low melting point is coated by a printing method or the like at a predetermined thickness on one of glass substrates 1, 11 constituted with dielectric layer 8 made of high- silicate glass or aluminum being deposited on an X electrode 2 and a Y electrode 12, and this crystalline glass layer with a low melting point is sintered to be crystaleized. Next, a negative-type resist film 15 is coated on the whole surface of the crystallized glass layer 14, then the light is radiated from the rear of the substrate 11 using the Y electrode pattern 12 as a mask so that the resist film 15 is exposed and furthermore developed, thus a mask pattern made of the resist film 15 is formed. Then, by selectively etching the crystallized layer 14 through said mask pattern, a plurality of linear crystallized glass spacers 16 are formed on the dielectric layer 18.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent any oxidation of the electrodes which might develop through exposed parts of the electrodes during a panel manufacturing process, and prevent any accidental mis-discharge, which might be induced by the maldistribution of unusual charges, by providing cracks used for exhausting unusual charges developed in dielectric layers. CONSTITUTION:The peripheries of an outermost-end electrodes 7 and y2n are made steep. Dielectric layers have multi-layered structures which are formed, respectively, by layering the first Al2O3 deposition layers 3a and 5a, borosilicate glass deposition layers 3b and 5b and the second Al2O3 deposition layers 3c and 5c, in that order. Parts of the second dejposition layers 3c and 5c corresponding to the peripheral parts of the electrodes 7 and y2n are provided with cracks 10. As a result, since unusual charges accumulated in surfaces of the dielectric layers located at both ends of a shift channel can be leaked through the cracks 7 into the writing electrode 7, the generation of accidental mis-discharge can be avoided. Here, since the cracks 10 are provided only in the second Al2O3 deposition layers 3b and 5b, the electrodes 7 and y2n are completely shielded from the atmosphere. As a result, any oxidation of the electrodes which might be caused by thermal treatment carried out during the panel manufacturing process can be prevented.
