    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tilt lock device for an outboard motor capable of preventing a lubricating oil from flowing into a combustion chamber by avoiding the cylinder head side from facing downward when holding an outboard engine main body in a tilt-up state. SOLUTION: An engine 7 is mounted on the outboard motor main body 4 so that the cylinder head 7c is located on the hull rear side of a crankshaft 13 and the crankshaft 13 is kept nearly vertical at a cruise. The outboard engine main body 4 is supported on a clamp bracket 27 fixed to a hull 2 rotatably around the rotation axis X via a swivel bracket 28 and vertically rockably around the tilt axis Y between a cruise position A and a tilt-up position B in this tilt lock device for the outboard motor. A tilt lock lever (tilt lock means) 42 holding the outboard motor main body 4 at the tilt-up position B and preventing the rotation of the outboard motor main body 4 around the rotation axis X in the tilt-up state is provided on the opposite side to the cylinder head 7c across the crankshaft 13 of the outboard motor main body 4 so that the tilt lock lever 42 abuts on the clamp bracket 27.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the corrosion of a sealing member caused by water immersion by increasing and reducing the volume of a lubricating oil chamber when the temperature of lubricating oil and air in the sealed lubricating oil chamber changes, and providing a means holding the pressure in the lubricating oil chamber within a prescribed range. SOLUTION: A lubricating oil chamber 20 is formed on the rear side of a universal joint 1 and a buffering chamber 25 between the lubricating oil chamber 20 and a chamber 3. During the operation of an engine, when the temperature of lubricating oil and air in the lubricating oil chamber 20 increases, pressure in the lubricating oil chamber 20 increases, and the lubricating oil and the air pressurize the bottom 23a of a cylindrical body 23 to push out the cylindrical body 23 forward against the elastic force of a coil spring 22. When the engine is stopped and the temperature of the lubricating oil and the air is reduced, the cylindrical body 23 is returned by the elastic force of the coil spring 22. The cylindrical body 23 can move smoothly by the pressure of the elastic force of the coil spring 22 or the pressure in the lubricating oil 20. It is thus possible to reduce a burden on a part-to-be-sealed, and increase the durability thereof.
