    • PURPOSE: To achieve precision, repetitive measurement, and accurate machining effectively by providing a plurality of roll support bodies which support an outer face of a roll in such a manner that it can rotate and are put across an interval. CONSTITUTION: A roll 15 is rotatably supported by a plurality of roll support bodies which are put across an interval such as a set of support bodies 28, 29 below the roll 15. Moreover, when positioning devices 45, 46 and a spherical body 49 having a known diameter are attached to both ends of the roll 15 to be measured and machined, an outer face 16 of the roll 15 to be machined is rotatably supported on a measuring and machining device. The travel in the axial direction of the roll 15 along a shaft center in the longitudinal direction of the roll 15 which is rotating on the support bodies 28, 29 for roll is equally restricted by a support column in the direction of shaft center. When it is supported by the measuring and machining device properly, rear roundness of the outer face 16 is measured by the measuring device and the displacement of the scheduled face along four separate shaft centers is measured simultaneously when the roll 15 is rotated on the support bodies 28, 29.
