    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable reverse feed by providing an engaging part to either one of a frame and a sub-frame and providing the engaging member engaged with the engaging part when the sub-frame is closed and supported in a movable manner so as to be released from the engagement with the engaging part by an on-off member. SOLUTION: An engaging lever 40 is provided to the side surface 2a of a sub-frame 2. The engaging lever 40 is engaged with an engaging part 1e by its end surface 40e to hold this engaged state by a tensile coil spring 41. By this constitution, if thermal paper is fed reversely, upward force acts on a platen by the force due to the meshing of a platen gear and the inner gear of an intermediate gear and friction force but, since the end surface 40e is engaged with the engaging part 1e, the upward force is suppressed and the platen gear and the inner gear hold meshing. Therefore, the friction force of thermal paper with the platen is held without separating a thermal head 14 and the platen to enable the reverse feed of the thermal paper.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal printer of simple construction with the capability to accurately position a platen with respect to a thermal head. SOLUTION: This thermal printer is equipped with a thermal printing head positioned and supported on a body frame 13 and a platen 18 supported on a freely openable cover frame with the body frame 13. A platen bearing 20 is engaged with the groove part 21 of the body frame 13 by a pressing force E brought about by the printing head when the cover frame is closed. In addition, an engagement part 21b with a guide face 21c angled 90 deg. or less in the direction in which the pressing force F acting upon the platen 18 from the printing head works within a plane including the groove part 21, is provided on a part which is opposite to the printing head in the groove part 21 and is positioned on the open side of the cover frame from a reference line N which connects the center axis O of the platen 18 with a supporting shaft for the cover frame when the cover frame is closed.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a printer good in a loading property of a recording paper and superior in printing quality and a paper feeding property by a constitution wherein when a paper feeding transfer gear is rotated, a transferring load that a paper feeding gear rotates the paper feeding transfer gear acts in a direction of which action generates a moment of closing an opening/closing member. SOLUTION: In a printer mechanism, a force from a paper feeding motor 23 is transferred to a platen gear 19 via a paper feeding transfer gear 22. When the paper feeding motor 23 rotates in a counter-clockwise direction, i.e., a forward direction, the direction of the force transmitted to the platen gear 19 from the paper feeding transfer gear 22 becomes one represented by arrow F in a condition that a pressure angle of the gear is designated by (a). Since a cover frame 10 is rotatable around a pivot 14, a force of the arrow F2 which is a divisional force of the force F acts in a closing direction of the cover frame 10. As a result, even when the cover frame 10 is not completely closed, the cover frame 10 automatically receives a force in a downward direction by virtue of the paper feeding transfer gear 22 after the paper feeding of the printer starts so that the cover frame 10 is surely closed.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent folding of an edge or damage on an edge of a paper in a compact printer comprising a roll paper holder portion by providing a paper guide for limiting a recording paper in the width direction to the vicinity of the printing portion and an engaging portion engageable with the paper guide so as to limit the displacement of the paper guide in the paper width direction. SOLUTION: A paper guide 17 made of plastic integrally with a printing portion is disposed inside a box-like main body frame 13 so as to guide the side face of a paper by the side face guide of the paper guide 17 in the same plane to the printing portion. At the time of installing the paper guide 17 in the main body frame 13, collars 17-2 having a long hole 17-3 are formed at the right and left ends of the upper part of the paper guide 17. Projections 13-1 are provided in the upper part of the main body frame 13. The displacement of the paper guide 17 in the paper width direction is limited by engaging the long holes 17-3 of the paper guide 17 with the projections 13-1 of the main body frame when the paper guide 17 is installed in the main body frame 13.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a printer having narrow breadth without specific power for closing a cap by providing a cap roller having an axis of rotation parallel with a nozzle of an ink jet head consisting of elastic member and shutting off the nozzle of the ink jet head by the cap roller. CONSTITUTION:When a printing is completed and a capping operation is necessary, a carriage drive motor 10 is driven and a carriage 5 is stopped just before an ink jet head 4 contacts with a cap roller 1. Next, a nozzle 4-a of the ink jet head 4 drives the carriage drive motor 10 until an axis of rotation 3 of the cap roller l coincides with a position in the direction of printing column and stops it. As the cap roller 1 is made of rubber, an overlap with the nozzle 4-a is absorbed by the elasticity. Thus, for closing the cap, a shutting off of the nozzle can be done by only stopping the carriage at the position where the cap roller arranged at a fixed frame coincides with the nozzle of the ink jet head.
