    • PURPOSE:To detect a character segmenting position with high accuracy by correcting the estimated character pitch in accordance with the relative position relation between a segmenting end candidate position and a black block. CONSTITUTION:A pitch estimating means 14 and a block correcting means 15 are provided to correct the estimated character pitch in accordance with the relative position relation between segmenting end candidate position and a black block. Thus the segmenting position is detected with high accuracy even if an error is produced between the estimated character pitch and that of a character string pattern. In addition, the characters are arranged in many general printed documents with a fixed pitch or an approximately fixed pitch with some variance. As a result, the character segmenting position can be detected with high accuracy based on an estimated character pitch with a document where the characters are arranged especially with a fixed or approximately fixed pitch.

    • PURPOSE:To quickly and highly accurately segment a character by segmenting a character pattern from a character-string pattern, based on segment start and segment end positions. CONSTITUTION:A pre-processing means 10 obtains a character-string pattern, and a block extracting means 12 detects an initial position and a terminal position in the character-string position of a black block of the character-string pattern. A segment position detecting means 14 detects an estimated character pitch of the character-string pattern, detects a position separated by roughly an estimated character pitch from a segment start position as a segment end cadidate position, and decides whether the segment end cadidate position is positioned in the black block or not. Subsequently, in accordance with a result of decision, a determination of the segment end position and a correction of the estimated character pitch are executed, and based on the segment end position, the next segment start position is set. A segmenting means 16 segments a character pattern from the character-string pattern, based on the segment start and segment end positions. In such a way, a character can be segmented quickly and with high accuracy.

    • PURPOSE:To collate fingerprints with high positioning accuracy by determining a superposed position between a collating fingerprint and a registered fingerprint based on line number distribution and line width distribution obtained from a binary graphic pattern. CONSTITUTION:A collating pattern obtained from a reading part 11 is stored in a collating pattern memory 12. Registered patterns are previously stored in a registered pattern memory 13. The memories 12, 13 are scanned by a raster method in 1st and 2nd directions and the line number distribution and line width distribution of both the patterns are respectively extracted by a line number distribution extracting part 14 and a line width distribution extracting part 15. The line number distribution is compared with the line width distribution by a reference point extracting part 16 and a superposed position of both the patterns is extracted. A coincidence deciding part 17 superposes the collating pattern to the registered pattern based on the superposed position, finds out the degree of coincidence of both the patterns and decides the coincidence or discrepancy of both the patterns based on the degree of coincidence.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a streaming distribution apparatus generating no delay on switching a channel. SOLUTION: The streaming distribution apparatus distributes streaming data to an image reproducing apparatus through an indicated channel, in accordance with the channelling indication of a network from the image reproducing apparatus. The apparatus has: a channel-indicated receiving means for receiving the channelling indication; a streaming-data distributing means for distributing the channelling indication, and an error correction means for retransmitting the streaming data when no response is received to the distributed streaming data. The error correction means performs no transmission until a predetermined standby time for retransmission passes over after the reception of the channelling indication. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stream data receiving and reproducing device capable of avoiding an underflow or an overflow of a buffer and reproducing a video stream and an audio stream data etc., without causing deterioration in quality.
SOLUTION: The stream data receiving and reproducing device includes the buffer which sequentially stores encoded data included in received stream data, a decoding unit which sequentially reads the encoded data out of the buffer at readout intervals and decodes them into video and audio data, and a reproduction output unit which reproduces and outputs the video and audio data. Further, the stream data receiving and reproducing device includes a data change detecting unit which calculates the time-series variation amount of the video and audio data at each predetermined period and compares the time-series variation amount with a predetermined threshold, and a data readout speed control unit which varies readout intervals based upon the remaining amount of data in the buffer when the time-series variation amount becomes smaller than the predetermined threshold.
