    • PURPOSE:To obtain accurate information in reflecting bodies easily even if plural pieces of reflecting bodies exist in an object to be inspected by setting the spacings between respective wave transmitting a receiving positions and the spacings between scanning lines in such a way that the adjacent ultrasonic beams overlap thoroughly on and between the scanning lines. CONSTITUTION:A probe 14 is moved and controlled on an object 10 to be examined from a state point (x, y) up to an end point (xn, yn) along respective scanning lines L1, L2-Li. The spacings between the lines L and respective wave transmitting and receiving positions are so set that adjacent ultrasonic beams overlap thoroughly on each other. The reflected pulses R received in the probe 14 are supplied to a wave transmittng and receiving circuit 22, by which said pulses are detected and are then digitized in a digitizing circuit 24, from which the digital signals are supplied to a data memory 26. The positions of the probe 14, and the crest values and propagation time of the pulse R are successively arranged and stored in the memory 26. These stored contents are read out properly and selectively and are processed according to a series of flow charts by an arithmetic processor 28.

    • PURPOSE:To perform high-precision distance amplitude correction easily by calculating the amount of correction between respective distances by a curve on the basis of echo height differing according to distance. CONSTITUTION:A calibration-mode probe 1 is placed on a calibration test bar 2 and an echo of an artificial defect 3 is displayed on an A scope 6. The level of necessary echo height is decided as a reference level, and the amplification factor of an amplifier 5 is so adjusted that the defect echo to be the reference level. A microcomputer 11 reads the state of a switch for an increase or decrease in amplification factor on a panel 12, and increases or decreases data to be sent to a D-A converting circuit 7, thus controlling the amplification factor of the amplifier 5. The completion of level adjustment is reported to the microcomputer 11 by operating a switch on the panel 12. The microcomputer 11 fetches distance data from a distance counter 9 and the controlled variable applied to the D-A converting circuit 7 to add them to data up to last data, and thus finds optimum controlled variable of each distance to write it in a memory 8, thereby performing switching to actual fault detection mode automatically.
