    • PURPOSE:To lower the absorptivity of a data recording layer, to reduce the quantity of light converted to heat and to enhance the stability of reading light by containing a compound wherein the absorption max. value of a data recording layer is shifted toward a short wavelength region by a specific wavelength with respect to the wavelength of used laser beam. CONSTITUTION:The recording layer provided on the surface of a substrate contains a compound wherein an absorption max value is shifted toward a short wavelength region by 20-100nm with respect to the wavelength of used laser beam. This recording layer contains at least one of an azaphthalocyanine compound, a phthalocyanine compound or a naphthalocyanine compound represented by formula I [wherein M is Si, Ge or Sn, Z , Z , Z and Z are a pyridine ring, benzene ring or naphthalene ring skeletal which is not substituted or has one or move monovalent substituent X and may be same and different, Y and Y are -Ar, -OR, -OAr, -ISi(R)3, -OSI(OR)3, -OSi(OAr)3 or -OC(C6H )3 and may be same or different, Ar is a phenyl group or a substituted phenyl group, R is a 1-20C straight chain or branched alkyl group]. The azaphthalocyanine compound, the phthalocyanine compound or the naphthalocyanine compound is dissolved or dispersed in a solvent along with a binder and the obtained solution is applied to the surface of the substrate according to a usual coating method to be formed into a film.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid crystal element suitable for mass production without generating scattering domain by using orientation control film comprising an org. high molecular material having a large tilt angle by means of the rubbing method. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal display element comprises a substrate, an electric field impressing means, an orientation control layer, and a nematic liquid crystal layer being usable for all purposes including display element, light modulation element, etc., wherein said orientation control layer is constituted of film of long-chain hydrocarbon polymer. The orientation control film comprising a specified poly phenyl silsesquioxane having >=3 deg. tilt angle is constituted of a polymer having >=2:1 proportion of C6H5 group to CH3 group in the side chain along the minor axis direction of the molecule. The polymer may be used in combination with a silane coupling agent, SiO2, Al2O3, TiO2, etc. The orientation film is formed similarly as the TN mode system by the general dipping method, rotation coating method, spray method, printing method, etc., then rubbing the coated material.
