    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyurethane open-cell porous material in which the porous material mainly composed of fine cells and excellent in liquid-absorbing property can be produced without use of a cell-generating agent, a polyurethane open-cell porous material which can be produced by this method, has fine cells and is excellent in liquid-absorbing property, and a swab using the polyurethane open-cell porous material.SOLUTION: A method for producing a polyurethane open-cell porous material comprises the steps of: dissolving a resin comprising polyurethane as a main component in a mixed solvent comprising water, a polyurethane-dissolving organic solvent A, and a polyurethane-swelling organic solvent B to obtain a polyurethane solution; cooling the polyurethane solution to precipitate a polyurethane molded body in the mixed solvent; and removing the mixed solvent from the polyurethane molded body. A polyurethane open-cell porous material which can be produced by this method, has fine cells and is excellent in liquid-absorbing property and a swab using the polyurethane open-cell porous material are also provided.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for separating solutions, respectively containing rare sugar alcohols of high purity in a high recovery ratio from a raw solution containing two kinds of sugar alcohols by operation using a pseudo moving layer under a specific condition, noticing the characteristics or functionalities of rare sugar alcohols, such as allitol, tritol, sorbital, iditol, or the like. SOLUTION: In a method for chromatographically separating sugar alcohols into respective fractions, from a raw solution containing two kinds of sugar alcohols using water as the eluent, a plurality of filling columns which are filled with a calcium type cation exchange resin as an adsorbent, having a selective adsorption capability with respect to the sugar alcohols, are endlessly connected in series, to form a circulation system; and the raw solution of which the sugar alcohol concentration is 20% or higher and the eluent are supplied to the circulation system. The circulation system is divided into four zones; the respective liquid supply parts and respective fraction-withdrawing parts are successively transferred to the downstream side in the circulating direction, while holding a predetermined positional relation to form a pseudo-moving layer of the adsorbent; and the circulating solution is chromatographically separated into respective sugar alcohol fractions.
