    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance an estimation precision of a sound source direction in a method and a device for estimating a sound source direction, and a program therefor.
      SOLUTION: This device for estimating a sound source direction includes a microphone array having three microphones disposed at vertexes of a regular triangle, a frequency converter for converting signals received by the respective microphones of the microphone array to signals in a frequency region, an arrival time difference calculating section for calculating out an arrival time difference with respect to each combination of a microphone pair of different microphones, and a sound source direction estimating section that obtains a sound source candidate on the basis of the arrival time difference so as to classify sound source direction candidates. The sound source direction estimating section has a sparse characteristic determining section that determines whether or not a sparse characteristic can be assumed by each frequency bin of the arrival time difference. The sound source direction estimating section obtains a sound source candidate on the basis of the arrival time difference of the frequency bin of which the sparse characteristic can be assumed so as to classify the sound source direction candidate.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a transmitter pen positioning system which provides a precise means for determining position of the pen tip, as well as a means for communicating supplemental information between the transmitter pen and the external receivers.
      SOLUTION: In this transmitter pen positioning system, the pen transmits repetitive output signals to the external receivers of two or more receive positions, and then position of the pen tip is determined to the writing plane on whiteboard. Its output element transmits time-dependent output signals from single signal transmitter pen to the two or more external receivers of two or more receive positions. Thus arrival direction of the output signals in each receive position is determined and the pen tip of single signal transmitter pen is defined as an intersection point of direction vectors from the pen to the external receivers. In another embodiment, a transducer transmits time-dependent output signals from transmitter pen to three or more external receivers to process received signals, and then arrival time in each receiver is determined, while position of the pen tip is determined as a computed distance between these receivers.
