    • PURPOSE:To prevent initial combustion from being delayed, by providing a means for distributing ignition timing signals to engine cylinders in accordance with first signals corresponding respectively to the engine cylinders, and second signals corresponding respectively to the dead centers of the engine cylinders. CONSTITUTION:Hall element sensors 6a through 6c are laid on the outer periphery of a magnetic material drum 4 adapted to be rotated in synchronization with a crank shaft and magnetized in a predetermined pattern, along the axial direction of the latter so as to constitute a signal generating means. Further, there are generated a crank angle signal T24 from a sensor 6a, a TDC signal T04 corresponding to the top center of each engine cylinder, from a sensor 6b and a signal T02+2 obtained by combining an engine cylinder group discriminating signal T02 from a sensor 6c and an auxiliary signal T2. These signals are delivered to an ECU 7 so as to subject the signals T04, T02+2 to a NAND process by a stationary ignition device 706 in order to compute first and second ignition timing signals which are delivered to ignition devices 12, 13 relating to first and second engine cylinder groups through a change-over circuit 708.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain precise ignition timing with a simple arrangement, by producing signals of different phases in the number equal to one-half of the number of engine cylinders of the sum of the number of the engine cylinder and one, from one ignition signal. CONSTITUTION:In the case of a four cylinder type reciprocating engine, when a first pulse of an ignition signal IN is applied to an input terminal 10, a transistor Q2 delivers pulses OUT2 to a trigger circuit 18. Accordingly, the trigger circuit 18 instantly cuts off current which has been fed until that time to the primary side 22P of an ignition coil 22 from a battery. As a result a high voltage is induced through the secondary side 22 of the coil to generate sparks at #2 and #3 spark plugs, and therefore, combustion is carried out in either one of cylinders associated with the spark plugs. Then, when a second pulse of the ignition signal IN is delivered, a high voltage is induced through the secondary side of an ignition coil 20 to generate sparks at #1, #4 spark plugs. thus, the ignition coils 20, 22 alternately generate a high voltage twice during the crank shaft rotating by two revolution, thereby it is possible to provide precise timing.

    • PURPOSE:To enable the quick selection of a signal through a relatively small number of selection circuits by providing a means for generating a group discriminant signal which is the same for a group of two cylinders with a crank angle 360 deg. out of phase from each other, but different for other such groups. CONSTITUTION:When applied to a 6-cylindered engine, slits A, B, C and C', and D and D' having four kinds of width for REF signals are formed on a disc 100 interlocked with an engine for rotation with a crank angle sensor 20'. And A and B, C and C' and D and D' are made into respective groups, and a group discriminant signal is generated in a control unit 21'. This signal is the same for a group of two cylinders whose engine working phase is 360 deg. dephased, but different among groups of two cylinders. From engine start to discriminant signal generation for a specific cylinder, power transistors 211-216 are actuated for two cylinders, according to the group discriminant signal. After a discriminant signal for a specific cylinder has been detected, the aforesaid transistors are actuated for each one cylinder.
