    • PURPOSE:To dispense with applying an electric current to maintain the operational condition of a switch by electrifying a member of shape memory alloy to restore the shape, and hooking the open end of an actuator of a micro-switch with a stopper part of a hook lever. CONSTITUTION:When a member 6 of a shape memory alloy is electrified with ON-operation of a switch 14, the member 6 is shape-restored and draws the open end part of an actuator 3 towards a support piece 7 side. As a result, the open end part of the actuator 3 is moved along the slope and caught with a stopper part 5. An operation button 2 is drawn in and a micro-switch 1 is changed over from a contact NC to the NO side. Then electrifying to the member 6 is suspended, while a load 16 is electrified. When the switch 15 is operated, a member 9 of the shape memory alloy is electrified, hereupon the member 9 restores its shape and turns an end part of a lever 4 to the support piece 10 side against a spring 12 and releases the end part of the actuator 3 from the stopper part 5, and the button 2 returns and breaks electrification to the member 9.

    • PURPOSE:To quickly actuate a tripping mechanism and also reduce a variation of radiation heat impinging on a bimetal by fixedly attaching the bimetal so that the plane of a heater and that of the bimetal are approximately perpendicular to each other and the bimetal is fixed to the middle portion of the heater. CONSTITUTION:When a current flows between a terminal B and a lead wire 5, a heater 9 produces heat, by which a bimetal 10 bends in the direction of A. When the current flowing in the heater 9 becomes an overcurrent, the bimetal 10 is more bent to actuate the tripping mechanism of a relay and cut off the current. As the bimetal 10 is fixedly attached to the middle of the heater 9 whose temperature is high, heat is so quickly conducted that the current can be cut off without delay. Moreover, the planes of the heater 9 and the bimetal 10 are perpendicular to each other so that the radiation heat, from the heater 9, impinging on the bimetal 10 is small and a variation of this radiation heat due to the bent of the bimetal 10 is also small and resultantly, the operation is stabilized.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the shift of a set value due to vibration to improve reliability by engaging an engaging member with an engaged portion at the first position and the second position and unengaging the engaging member with the engaged portion at the third position. CONSTITUTION:A protruded engaging structure and a recessed engaging structure which are provided on a current regulating lug 16 and in a reset button 19, respectively, are engaged with each other to associate the reset button 19 connected at the engaged portion with the lug 16 as the lug 16 is revolved. On the other hand, the revolution of the reset button 19 is hindered by a guide groove provided in a case 1, therefore the revolution of the lug 16 is hindered in the space thereof to the guide groove in the case 1 via the reset button 19. As a result, the shift of a set value resulting from the revolution of the regulating lug due to vibration is prevented to improve reliability.

    • PURPOSE:To downside the lateral width of a thermal overload relay and to facilitate discrimination of its working condition by providing an inversion mechanism on the side of a heat element, on which a contact mechanism that can be switched by a slider, is arranged. CONSTITUTION:When an overload runs in a main circuit, through a temperature compensation bimetal 31, a release lever 3 is turned anticlockwise with a pin 82 as a fulcrum, and a projection 9c of an inversion spring 9 is pressed by a driving lever 32 of the lever 3. The inversion spring 9, its condition of a curved surface 9f being destroyed and the projection 9c exceeding a dead point, is rapidly inversed. A slider 66 is moved in a direction P by means of the driving force of the spring 9, so as to separate a movable contact spring 65a of ever-closing condition from s fixed contact 65c, whereby a movable contact plate spring 65b of ever-opening condition contacts a fixed contact 65d. By the movement of the slider 66, operation of a thermal overload relay is indicated. On the side of a heat element 1, an inversion mechanism 90 alone is installed, and the lateral width of the thermal overload relay can thus be narrowed.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a cheap flashing device with a simple structure by connecting an elongated drive element made of shape memory alloy and shape-memorized in the longitudinal direction, electrically and mechanically to a snap opening and closing mechanism for a movable contact so as to periodically open and close the movable contact. CONSTITUTION:When a movable contact SW1 in a turn indicator manipulating switch SW is turned from its neutral position so as to close, for example, a right turn indicating stationary contact SWR, a turn indicating lamp FR.RP is turned on. Current runs through a pin 1C, a stationary piece 5C, a drive element 5, a movable contact support member 4, a movable contact 3, a stationary contact 2 and a pin 1D in that order, and accordingly, the drive element 5 reduces its length to a value which is shape-memorized, due to its autogenous heat so that the upper end part of the movable contact support member 4 is pulled leftward and downward, resulting in deformation of the member 4. Then, a movable part 4D of the support member 4 in an arcuated condition is reversed from its convex shape into its concave shape, and accordingly, the movable contact 3 is separated from the stationary contact 2 so as to deenergize the flashing indicating lamp. Further, the drive element 5 is cooled down, and is returned into its original shape. Then, the movable contact 3 is again made into contact with the stationary contact 2, thereby the turn indicator FR.PR is turned on.
