    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a joining process cycle is delayed and productivity tends to worsen when the marking-off width of a veneer to be joined is changed following the switching of the process from a narrow veneer to a broad veneer as the veneer needs to be conveyed and joined after its conveying direction is changed 90 deg. to a pressurizing device installed in an orthogonal direction with the conveying direction of the veneer, in addition to the necessity to secure a wide installation site in view of the fact that a conventional veneer joining device adopting a cross conveying system is of an L- configuration consisting of arranged components as a whole. SOLUTION: This green veneer joining device comprises a straight-line laid rail 40 as a reference allowing conveyed green veneers 3 to turn almost at 90 deg. in the horizontal direction. Consequently, the front joining face of the green veneer 3b which is turned as a following green veneer 3 is matched with the rear end joining face of the preceding green veneer 3a which proceeds ahead of the green veneer 3 and stands by at the joining position of a pressurizing device 18, and both green veneers 3a, 3b are joined together.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To previously wipe off veneer clogging at an inlet and outlet of a connecting unit by stopping restart of a supply conveyor at the time of continuation of a sensing state of a sense signal of a sensor for sensing passage of cutting chips from a guide plate for a preset set time or more, and operating a warning unit. SOLUTION: A guide plate G guides dropping of cutting chips, and has a sensor P disposed at an intermediate part of the plate and having a projecting or reflecting type photoelectric switch for sensing the chips. Normally, a required time from cutting to completion of connecting is, for example, 0.6 sec or more, and a time for passing the chips through te sensor P is, for example, 0.01 sec. Thus, a set time in a control circuit C for deciding a clogging state is set with the 0.001 sec as a standard. Accordingly, when the sensor P becomes the sensing state for the 0.01 or more, a signal for inhibiting the restart is transmitted from the circuit C to the motor M of the conveyor 2 to temporarily stop it, and an alarm sound is generated by an alarm unit Z to prevent occurrence of clogging.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the longitudinal connection or lateral connection of raw veneer by working the end of one raw veneer and forming a thinner portion than a predetermined thickness to subsequently be superimposed on the end of other raw veneer via a thermosetting adhesive, then press-contacting the thin portion in the thickness direction of the raw veneer by a heater. SOLUTION: The end of one raw veneer 1 of raw veneers, 1, 1 with a predetermined thickness to be connected is worked by a chamfer cutter to form a thinner portion 3 than the predetermined thickness of raw veneer, and thereafter the thinner portion 3 is superimposed on the end of one raw veneer 1 via a thermosetting adhesive. In the next place, the end of raw veneer including the thinner portion 3 is press-contacted in the thickness direction. The heater 5 is supplied with steam through a pipe arranged therein so as to set a temperature of the heater 5 to, e.g. 160-170 deg.C. Inasmuch as the dried thinner portion 3 is the same as the dried veneer, the thermosetting adhesive cures through press-connection of the heater 5 alike in the connection of the dried veneer, thereby connecting the thin portion 3.
