    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for controlling the decomposition reaction of a material to be treated, which produces a desired useful product selectively in good yield, which can be increased in size, and whose apparatus cost can be kept low, in a continuous decomposition treatment with a subcritical water of a material to be treated containing solids.
      SOLUTION: In a method for producing a product decomposed with a subcritical water, a material to be treated is pulverized in advance into particles, and the particles are mixed with water to prepare a slurry. The slurry is sent to a pressing means 1 via a crown to be pressurized. Next, the pressurized slurry is sent to a heating means 2 to be heated to be in a subcritical state. The slurry in a subcritical state is introduced from an introduction port 8 to the bottom of a reaction vessel 3. In this reaction vessel 3, from the bottom, a fixed layer, a fluidized layer and a layer being dissolved in a subcritical water are formed respectively. The layer being dissolved in a subcritical water is taken out of anyone of the discharge ports 101 to 106 provided at upper and side portions of the reaction vessel 3, wherein the selection of an appropriate port from the discharge ports allows the adjustment of the residence time of the subcritical water, resulting in the adjustment of the reaction time of the decomposition with the subcritical water for the material to be treated.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the risk of blocking a pipeline used in a treatment method that uses subcritical water caused by the agglomeration and the sedimentation in the pipeline of a substance made to have a low molecular weight resulting from the decomposition in a reactor of an organic substance present in a treated liquid, which agglomeration is caused by the temperature drop in the treated liquid and in the substance made to have a low molecular weight. SOLUTION: A raw material to be treated is charged into a reactor 4 wherein water is present in a subcritical state, to decompose an organic substance contained in the raw material into a substance of a low molecular weight. The treated liquid comprising water and the substance resulting from the decomposition of the organic substance having been subjected to the treatment with subcritical water are directly charged from the reactor 4, with the water kept in a subcritical state, into a flash tank 6 of a normal temperature/normal pressure via a back pressure valve 5 to instantaneously reduce the pressure of the treated liquid, whereby the water component in the treated liquid is evaporated to increase the concentration of the low molecular weight substance relative to the water component in the treated liquid and the decomposed substance is disintegrated.
