    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium allowing suppression of unevenness of lubricant layer thickness of a magnetic recording medium and having uniform lubricant layer thickness.SOLUTION: A method for UV treatment of a magnetic recording medium comprising a magnetic film, a protective film and a lubricant film on a non-magnetic substrate comprises a step of preparing a cassette for storing a magnetic recording medium, a UV lamp for UV treatment of the magnetic recording medium, a UV lamp house for storing the UV lamp and a curtain for shielding the inside of the UV lamp house from outside air when taking the magnetic recording medium into or out from the UV lamp house; and an irradiation step of irradiating the magnetic recording medium with the UV lamp, where the irradiation step is carried out under the condition that the distance between the cassette and the curtain is 6 mm or more and 13 mm or less.
