    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of further appropriately removing particulates accumulated on a filter, in an exhaust emission control device for a compression ignition internal combustion engine having the filter for collecting particulates in exhaust gas on an exhaust passage and performing combustion after forming premixed air-fuel mixture. SOLUTION: The exhaust emission control device for the compression ignition internal combustion engine is provided with the filter collecting particulates in exhaust gas and arranged on the exhaust passage and an accumulated amount estimating means for estimating amount of particulates accumulated on the filter. First fuel supply is performed during a period from an intake stroke to the latter stage of a compression stroke, and second fuel supply is performed near a top dead center of the compression stroke. Premixed air-fuel mixture of intake gas and fuel are formed inside a cylinder by fuel supplied by the first fuel supply, and combustion is performed after the premixed air-fuel mixture is formed. When the amount of the particulates accumulated on the filter exceeds predetermined amount (S101), fuel to be supplied by the first fuel supply is increased (S102) to increase fuel concentration of the premixed air-fuel mixture.
