    • PURPOSE:To provide an optical fiber wiring switching device which improves the workability of wiring switching and maintenance and enables large-scale integration with a high-density packaging. CONSTITUTION:This optical fiber wiring switching device has a movable switching robot 11 which grips arbitrarily selected second optical fibers 8 and switches the connection. A take-up mechanism which is detained to the slacked arbitrary second optical fibers 8, takes up the optical fibers in the slacked state by rotating the fibers and inserts the ends of the optical fibers into the switching robot 11 to have the ends gripped is added to the switching robot 11. On the other hand, the take-up mechanism is composed of a hook mechanism 20 which detains the second optical fibers 8 near the arranging board and pulls up the optical fibers up to the take-up position and a take-up roller 28 which rotates and takes up the second optical fibers lead by this hook mechanism 20. A vibrator 31 to apply vibrations over the entire part of the parts to detain the optical fibers to be pulled up is mounted at the hook mechanism 20.

    • PURPOSE:To form a fine mercury droplet which has been appropriately separated and measured by placing mercury in an aq. surfactant soln. which is vibrated to disperse the mercury as many minute droplets, sorting out the droplet of desired diameter and charging the droplet into pure water. CONSTITUTION:An appropriate amt. of mercury 1 is introduced into an aq. soln. 2 of a surfactant such as soap in a test tube 3, the test tube 3 is vibrated by an ultrasonic vibrator 4, etc., and hence the mercury 1 is dispersed into many fine droplets of micron order. Since the droplet is coated with a molecular film of the surfactant, the droplets are not joined to one another but dispersed in the form of globule. The soln. 2, in which the minute mercury droplets are dispersed, is transferred to a flat vessel 6 such as a watch glass by using a pipet 5. The mercury droplet of desired diameter is selected by means of a microscope 8, sucked up with a micropipet 7 of glass tube and transferred into a large amt. of pure water 9. The adhered surfactant is diffused into the pure water 9 and removed, and the washed fine mercury droplet is obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To seal microscopic space airtightly by an extremely simple method without using a special device instead of a conventional airtight sealing method formed by using high voltage. CONSTITUTION:A microscopic recess 23 is etched in the center of a glass substrate 22, and grooves 26 are etched in a multiple shape so as to surround the periphery of the recess 23. Silicon oil 25 is applied to a flat cover 21, and it is superposed upon the substrate 22 in a vacuum, and when space is secured in the respective grooves 26, a narrow clearance 24 at which the cover and the substrate contact with each other is filled with the oil. When this is exposed to an atmospheric pressure ambience, gas enters up to reaching pressure capable of being held by respective surrounding groove structures. Assuming that 0.39 atmospheric pressure can be held by a single stage clearance, since the clearance filled with the oil in a three-stage groove structure exists by four stages, a pressure difference of about 1.6 atmospheric pressure can be held as a whole, so that the central space 23 can be kept under vacuum.
