    • PURPOSE:To prevent degradation of water quality by covering the surface of the rubber of a water-sealing rubber ring for use in the joints of a variety of city water pipes with a flexible resin coating harm less to human, at least over an area where the surface of the rubber could make contact with water passing through a pipe. CONSTITUTION:In a joint where a spigot 2 is fitted into the socket 1 of a cast iron pipe with a bolt and nut 4 tightening a retaining ring 3 and a socket flange together, a rubber ring 5A is interposed between the portion of the spigot 2 pressed by the end of the retaining ring 3 and the retaining ring 3 inside the socket 1, thus sealing water passing through a pipe so that it does not leak outside. In this case, the surface of rubber used in the rubber ring 5A is covered with a flexible coating 6A of a resin harmless to human, at least over an area where the surface could make contact with the water passing through the pipe. The coating 6A is preferably made of an olefine resin such as fluororesins and polyamide resins, so that even if trace amounts of toxic substances are added to the rubber, the coating prevents the toxic substances from dissolving into the water.

    • PURPOSE:To fast the desirable position of a casting by a metal having the desirable properties by casting as providing an adhesive layer mixing low temp. melting metal constraining the specific metal or alloy material or combining body of metal and nonmetal at the specific position with an organic binding material on a mold surface. CONSTITUTION:Three materials of the specific material A, such as the specific metal (wear resistance, corrosion resistance, heat resistance, etc.), the alloy material having plural kinds, the combining body of metal and non-metal, etc., the low temp. melting metal B constraining the specific material A at the desirable position and suitable quantity of organic binding material C, are admixed as slurry state and applied on the mold surface or after admixing the three materials A, B, C, they are shaped as thin plate state and sticked on the casting surface, to provide the adhesive layer 3 on the mold 2 surface. Next, at the time of pouring aimed molten metal, the low melting point metal B is melted and as enclosing the specific material A, the metal B and the molten mother metal are combined, and the specific material A is strongly diffused and joined with the mother metal. Then, the organic bonding material C keeps joining of layer and lays a role for holding till start of solidification at the time of pouring.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent breakage of any of air valve constituent members such as a guide member when water within the air valve receives a sudden pressure change.SOLUTION: A guide member 4 of an air valve is divided into two, that is, an upper guide 4a and a lower guide 4b, while a safety valve 18 is installed in a floating valve element 6. By dividing the guide member 4, mutual force of constraint in a vertical direction is severed, thereby, when the inner pressure of the guide member 4 receives a sudden pressure change, the breakage of the guide member 4 can be prevented. Furthermore, when the inner pressure exceeds a predetermined value, the safety valve 18 is activated so as to escape the inner pressure, thereby any of the constituent members of the air valve such as a guide member 4, floating valve element 6, float valve body 7 and the like can be prevented from being damaged due to the sudden change of the inner pressure.
