    • PURPOSE:To obtain excellent finished surface roughness by forming a quick- coagulation layer with a secondary dendrite space of 6 mum or less on an addendum section made of high-speed steel of a cutting tool. CONSTITUTION: A quick-coagulation layer 1 is formed by being coagulated from a liquid phase at a cooling speed of about 600 deg.C/sec or more, and the secondary dendrite space becomes 6 mum or less under such high-speed cooling. Concurrently, the second layer grain of a carbide or the like becomes about 1 mum or less. For example, a beam is illuminated from the direction of a flank 3 after the rough machining of an addendum 2 to perform the finish machining of the addendum 2. The addendum 2 is tempered after beam illumination and is machined so that the quick-coagulation layer about 0.1 mm or more in width is formed from the addendum 2 to the flank 3 and a rake face 4. The flank width X and rake face width Y are made about 0.1 mm or more. Accordingly, high-precision finished surface roughness can be improved.

    • PURPOSE: To prevent deformation by a heat treatment in the stage of heat- treating a metallic plate, etc., by the irradiation of the laser beams from both faces thereof by controlling the deviation in the irradiation position of the laser beams, the difference in the beam outputs and the difference in the spot shapes of the beams within a specific range.
      CONSTITUTION: The laser beams 2a, 2b of the outputs Wa, Wb are irradiated to both faces 1a, 1b of a plate material 1 to be treated such as metallic plate to heat-treat said material. The deviation D of the irradiation positions 3a, 3b of the two laser beams 2a, b is controlled within 20% of the spot length La of the laser beam 2a or 2b; i.e., D/La≤0.2. The difference between the output Wa, Wb of the two laser beams is controlled within 10% of the output Wa or Wb, i.e., (Wb-Wa)/Wa≤0.1. The difference between the spot shapes Lc, Ld of the laser beams 2a, 2b is controlled within 20% of Lc or Ld, i.e., (Ld-Lc)/ Lc≤0.20. A cooling gas such as He or Ar or liquid nitrogen is sprayed like mists 4a, 4b to the parts except the positions 3a, 3b to cool the material. The generation of thermal deformation such as camber or bend of the material 1 heat-treated by the laser beams is thus prevented.
