    • PURPOSE:To prevent a molten metal from leaking and a pouring gate from being closed by forming the pouring gate on a furnace wall for constituting the bottom face of a furnace body in a pouring attitude after tilting of the furnace body, and providing a sliding nozzle for opening and closing an opening part on this pouring gate. CONSTITUTION:Before tilting of a furnace body 1, a pouring port is closed in advance by a sliding nozzle 7, and the pouring port surrounded by a sand stopper 11 is filled with sand 10 from a sand feeder 9. Subsequently, by a hydraulic cylinder 6A, the furnace body 1 is tilted, a furnace side wall on which the pouring part is provided becomes horizontal and tilting is ended in a position which becomes the bottom face of the furnace, and the furnace body 1 is fixed. Subsequently, the sliding nozzle 7 is moved and by opening the pouring port, the sand 10 is discharged, and pouring is started. When pouring is ended, the furnace body 1 is returned to an upright attitude again, and offered for charging of a molten metal in the next time.

    • PURPOSE:To effectively correct meandering of a metal strip during high speed conveying by detecting the meandering amt, between pinch rolls conveying the rapidly cooled metal strip and steering roll and tilt-controlling the steering roll in accordance with this detected value. CONSTITUTION:Molten metal is forcedly and rapidly cooled and solidified with cooling roll rotating at high speed and the obtd. rapidly cooled metal strip 4 is conveyed through the pinch rolls 14 and the steering roll 11 as a deflector roll and coiled with a coiling roll 9. In the above conveying method, an optical meandering detecting sensor 15 is arranged at between the pinch rolls 14 and the steering roll 11, desirably near the intermediate point to detect the meandering rate of the above strip 4 during conveying. In accordance with this detected meandering rate, feed-forward control for tilting the steering roll 11 is executed through a hydraulic cylinder 13, etc. Then, in the above control, it is desirable to remain suitable offset rate to the proportional movement of the steering roll 11 by setting proportional gain in accordance with the above operational condition.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the product quality and to extend the life of an end side wall longer by providing an Ni plating layer, Ni alloy plating layer and Cr plating layer in order in specified thickness on the inner face of a water cooling type end side wall. CONSTITUTION:The Ni plating layer 3 in 0.1-0.6mm thickness is formed as a 1st layer on the inner face of the end side wall 2 composed of a Cu or Cu alloy and the Ni alloy plating layer 4 in 0.1-0.2mm thickness is provided as a 2nd layer on the upper face thereof. The Cr plating layer 5 in 0.02-0.05mm thickness is formed as a 3rd layer on the upper face of the plating layer 4. In this case, the adhesion of the 1st layer 3 is improved because the Ni plating layer 3 of the 1st layer has less difference in the thermal expansion coefft. with the end side wall 2. Due to the Cr plating excellent in wear resistance, heat resistance and hardness being used on the 3rd layer 5 the damage of the end side wall 2 is reduced and the product quality is improved. The end side wall 2 is made in a longer life because the adhesion of the plating layers 3, 4, 5 is improved by the interposition of the 2nd layer 4.

Based on the deviations between actual reduction forces P1S, P2S measured by the sensors 22A, 22B, and the standard reduction forces and the detected values of roll gaps l1, l2, an arithmetic device 20A, 20B calculate reduction forces to correct, to execute rolling reduction control. As a solidification at width direction is uniformized, width of the thin hoop metal is uniformized.
