    • PURPOSE:To produce a permanent magnet consisting of a Cu substn. type multi- element rare earth intermetallic compd. having excellent characteristics at a low cost by melting rare earths in the form of oxide and the balance in the form of metal together with a reducing agent to manufacture a base alloy contg. no Cu, plating Cu to the solidified base alloy and subjecting the alloy to diffusion with heating. CONSTITUTION:Raw materials are mixed by melting rare earths such as Sm, Ce, Pr, etc. in the form of inexpensive oxide together with a reducing agent such as Ca, Mg or the like and the other components except Cu in the form of metallic powder or partly oxide in the stage of producing a Cu substn. type multi-element rare earth intermetallic compd. having the compsn. expressed by the formula (1). The mixture is put in a reaction vessel and is brought into reaction at 1,000- 1,300 deg.C to reduce the oxide of the rare earths and other metals. The cake alloyed by the mutual diffusion is thus manufactured. The cake is roughly ground and Cu is then plated on the surface. The plated cake is heated at 800-1,250 deg.C to diffuse Cu and thereafter the cake is pulverized, oriented and molded, by which the permanent magnet having high performance is produced at a low cost.

    • PURPOSE:To increase magnetic force largely by a simple facility by using a mold with a magnetic circuit for pulses, generating a pulse magnetic field and orientating magnetic particles in the mold by the magnetic field. CONSTITUTION:A mold is constituted by mounting a yoke section 5 consisting of a magnetic material and conductors 4 around a cylindrical molding space 2, to the inside thereof a core 1 is fitted concentrically, through a thin cylinder 3 composed of a nonmagnetic material. A kneaded material consisting of ferromagnetic powder, such as ferrite powder having magnet plumbite type crystallographic structure, alnico magnet powder, etc. and one kind or two kinds or more of thermoplastic resins, such as polyethylene, polypropylene, etc. is prepared as raw materials. The kneaded material is charged to an injection molding machine with the mold, and a pulse magnetic field is applied into the mold at least once during the time when a molded material is cooled and solidified on an injection molding or after a molding. A obtained anisotropic molded shape is cooled and solidified, and taken out of the mold. The outer diameter of the obtained molded shape is processed to predetermined size as required, and the molded shape is magnetized in the same direction as the anisotropic direction, thus acquiring an anisotropic cylindrical magnet.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain the rare-earth intermetallic powder magnet, thermal stability thereof is excellent and shape density thereof is high and which has high magnetic flux density, by utilizing only coarse powder, grain size thereof is adjusted at specific value. CONSTITUTION:Ingot acquired by melting an alloy, which contains rare-earth metals and consists of 25.7% Sm, 13.7% Fe, 7.6% Cu, 2.6% Hf, and the remainder Co in wt%, through high-frequency dissolution is homogenized in an argon atmosphere, water-hardened and age-treated in the argon atmosphere. The material is coarse-ground and fine-ground by using a jaw crusher and a disk mill, a jet mill, etc. after aging, coarse powder coarse-ground is classified by using a screen of 635 meshes, and the coarse powder of +635 meshes is obtained. Coarse powder and fins of the grain size of 20-500 micron of rare-earth intermetallic compound powder acquired in this manner are each kneaded with an epoxy group binder, and pressed in a magnetic field of approximately 8,000Oe.
